While you’re enjoying your office Christmas parties and are busy shopping for those perfect gifts for your friends and family, please don’t forget that we still have around 120,000 American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq who won’t be spending Christmas with their loved ones. Please take just a moment and make a donation to send a care package to the brave men & women for whom duty and country come before self. Here are a few great organizations that provide much-needed support. Soldier’s Angels has 20 different teams and programs supporting all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. “We send letters, care packages, and comfort items to the deployed, and we support their families here at home. We also provide assistance to the wounded, continuing support...

VIDEO: Chris Christie turns “Mic Check” into attack on Obama

Chris_Christie

OWS leftists rudely interrupt (i.e.“mic check”) Gov. Chris Christie’s speech in Iowa, but he handles it very well. He lets them throw their little tantrum, then turns it around and makes an excellent point about President Obama’s appalling lack of leadership. And he didn’t even need a teleprompter to do it. (h/t: Verum Serum) They represent an anger in our country that Barack Obama has caused…because he is a typical, cynical Chicago ward politician who runs for office and promises everything and then comes to office and disappoints. And so their anger is rooted, not in me or in Mitt Romney. Their anger is rooted in the fact that they believed in this hope and change garbage that they...

70 years ago today: A date which will live in infamy

Pearl_Harbor

Today marks the 70th anniversary of the unprovoked attack on Pearl Harbor when Japan bombed the U.S. Pacific Fleet anchored in Hawaii. The Washington Times interviewed a few of the surviving veterans who witnessed the attack: Since the 1950s, Mr. Davis and others have kept their legacies alive through the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, but the group will disband at the end of the year. Its members are nearing 90 years older, and many have serious health problems. “It was just getting to be too much for them. The youngest survivors are 88 years old,” said Carol Gladys, the daughter of a Pearl Harborsurvivor and secretary of Sons and Daughters, Pearl Harbor Survivors Inc. It’s been in existence since the 1970s, but now will play a much larger...

Obama’s fairness speech is short on Teddy Roosevelt, long on Karl Marx [UPDATE: Full speech transcript added]

Obama channels Roosevelt

President Obama delivered a speech in Osawatomie, Kansas today; the same location where, just over a 100 years ago, President Theodore Roosevelt spoke about what he called “New Nationalism.” Now that his Hope & Change themes have been thoroughly proven hollow, Obama is borrowing heavily from Teddy Roosevelt for his 2012 campaign theme: “fairness.” Over the next few months, you can expect to hear this phrase repeated ad nauseum: “I believe that this country succeeds when everyone gets a fair shot, when everyone does their fair share, and when everyone plays by the same rules. Those aren’t Democratic or Republican values; 1% values or 99% values. They’re American values, and we have to reclaim them.” He used the word...

Well, crap. Cain is out. So now what?

It would be an understatement to say that I am disappointed to see Herman Cain step out of the race to be the Republican nominee for 2012. No sooner had I gotten my bumper sticker and yard sign last week, Mr. Cain leaked that he would be making a big announcement on Saturday regarding his campaign. And sure enough, rather than press on he’s decided to suspend his campaign. Herman Cain announced Saturday that he is suspending his campaign for president, telling a crowd of supporters in his home state that the allegations of sexual harassment and infidelity had become too big a burden on his family. His wife Gloria standing by his side in a rare public appearance,...

VIDEO: UC Davis Pepper Spray – What Really Happened

The protesters gave the cops an ultimatum: "If you let them go, we will let you leave."

This post is a follow-up on my Nov 21 post about the UC Davis pepper spray incident because I think it’s important to counter the pro-Occupy propaganda we’ve been seeing with what Paul Harvey used to refer to as “the rest of the story.” Occupy protesters and the media have sensationalized this story by only showing a select short clip of the police spraying the students with pepper spray, implying that the officers’ actions were unprovoked and were some kind of police brutality. But upon viewing the entire footage of the protest, one can see that was clearly not the case. The video below shows the events in chronological order, including how the protesters ignored police orders, then physically...

More reasons to doubt Cain’s accusers

Posted 30 Nov 2011 in Herman Cain, media bias
Innocent until proven guilty?

After doing some more thinking and research about this most recent accusation about Herman Cain, I’ve come to seriously doubt the veracity of Ginger White’s claims. For one thing, White claims that she and Mr. Cain had a 13-year affair which just recently ended before he declared his candidacy. In addition to being unbelievable that a man of Cain’s accomplishments would engage in a Presidential campaign knowing full well that the media would root out any hint of impropriety, there’s the fact of Cain’s cancer. By White’s account, she and Cain would have been carrying on back in 2006, when Cain was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer. It had already metastasized to his liver and he was given a 30% chance of survival....

Will Herman Cain resign his candidacy? Should he?

I was disturbed yesterday to hear new allegations being made against Herman Cain. This time the accusations are not of sexual harassment, but of having a 13-year affair with a woman named Ginger White. The skeptic in me really wonders if this is true, and even so, if it’s just another attempt to force a good man from the race after the previous attacks failed to work. The timing makes me suspicious. Moreover, it frustrates me that President Bill Clinton coasted to two victories amid numerous counts of sexual impropriety (including allegations of rape) and continues to be wildly popular with Democrats. But Herman Cain is now expected to bow out after being accused of having an affair. We...

The OWS bike lock metaphor

To the self-described “99%”: The above photo is a visual metaphor for why the other 53% of us refuse to even listen to you. We are the cyclist, the bicycle is America’s economy, and you’re all those bike locks. When you block public areas and make it harder for regular folk to go about their business of making a living, you become assholes and we have no interest in what you’re whining about. When you camp on public property and transform it into filth-ridden zones of disease, violence, and crime, you become assholes and we have no interest in what you’re whining about. That, and the fact that you’ve teamed up with idiots like the American Nazi Party, Democratic...

I hope you’re able to enjoy some food and fun today with your friends and family. Please make sure to say a word of thanks to our men and women in uniform who won’t be with their loved ones today. Here’s one of my favorite Thanksgiving moments from TV past, this clip is from the classic WKRP in Cincinnati.
