Former President George W. Bush gave an excellent speech today in Shanksville, Pennsylvania for the 10 year anniversary of 9-11, honoring the heroic passengers and crew of Flight 93 whose courage foiled the plans of jihadist murderers. Some highlights from Bush’s speech:  (more to come when I can find a transcript) 9/11 was “the most lives lost on American soil on a single day since the Battle of Antietam.” “One of the lessons of 9-11 is that evil is real and so is courage.” “At the moment American democracy was under attack our citizens defied their captors by holding a vote. The choice they made would cost them their lives. And they knew it. Many passengers called their loved...

VIDEO: Libya vs Iraq

Posted 25 Mar 2011 in Barack Obama, George W. Bush, humor, hypocrisy, liberals, war

Via Jonah Goldberg, a mind-numbed Liberal argues that Obama is awesome, even when he rushes into a war for oil. It’s funny when the shoe is so obviously on the other foot. (h/t: Allahpundit) Although this is a cartoon, I know many so-called “Progressives” that are just as irretrievably stupid as the O-bot depicted above. And just as willing to abandon their principles when their messiah behaves like President George W. Bush. Well, like Bush except for the inconvenient fact that Bush spent 90 days obtaining Congressional approval for military action in both Iraq and Afghanistan and briefed the American public on why we were committing our troops to combat, while Obama rushed to war within 48 hours of...

WikiLeaks docs confirm WMDs in Iraq

Posted 08 Dec 2010 in George W. Bush, Iraq, media bias, WMDs

Julian Assange’s dump of classified documents has revealed that a WMD program existed in Iraq prior to the U.S. invasion and many of the WMDs were transferred to Syria in the buildup before the war. I certainly do not approve of Assange’s actions, but I find it just as appalling that the lamestream media is completely ignoring this information because it proves them wrong and vindicates President Bush. (h/t: The Political Jungle) The release by Julian Assange’s web site Wikileaks of classified documents reveals that U.S. military intelligence discovered chemical weapons labs, encountered insurgents who were specialists in the creation of toxins, and uncovered weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. However, Washington, DC officials and the news media have...

Krauthammer calls out Obama for "disgusting" attacks on Bush

Posted 28 Oct 2009 in Barack Obama, George W. Bush

President Harry Truman was known for keeping on his desk a sign that read “The Buck Stops Here,” signaling his accountability and his refusal to pass blame to others; he publicly accepted ultimate responsibility for his decisions and policies. It’s a pity that President Obama can’t seem to do the same. And Charles Krauthammer, in classic form, calls him on his gutless habit of assigning all blame to President George W. Bush.(h/t: Ed Morrissey) “I want to point out one thing about what Obama had said when he talked about ‘the long years of drift.’ There is something truly disgusting about the way he cannot refrain from attacking Bush when he’s being defensive about himself. I mean, it’s beyond...

Former President Bush, now "retired guy" still refuses to criticize Obama

Posted 22 Sep 2009 in Barack Obama, George W. Bush, responsibility

I heard the recording of this interview on my drive home yesterday. Whether you agreed or disagreed with President Bush’s policies (and I STRONGLY disagreed with several of Bush’s policies), you must admit the man has class. “My place in the world is out of the spotlight,” he said in the interview Monday morning. “I am going to meld back into society and try to contribute to the community. “I’m through with that phase in my life. I’m happy to be . . . an active citizen of the Metroplex.” A few of his remarks during the radio interview: President Barack Obama: Bush said he told his successor that he would not criticize the work he does in office. “I didn’t...

President defends critic’s right to speak at Town Hall

Not President Obama. That President. The bad/evil/mean/stupid Republican President who supposedly wanted to take away all our freedoms. Contrast that with President Obama’s call to “punch back twice as hard” against critics of his government-run health care proposal. Or his decree to gather information about those who disagree with his policy. The Democrats are big proponents of free speech and dissent, right? For instance, the classy way Rep. David Scott (D-GA) handles a question from one of his constituents about “ObamaCare.” The Democrats are worried, folks. They KNOW they’re wrong on healthcare, they KNOW the American people have seen through their scheme, and they’re afraid they’ll be stopped before they implement their newest attempt to hoodwink America into embracing...

A contrast in military response

Listing the bailouts, stimulus, and other wasteful spending

I’ve had difficulty keeping track of our government’s out of control spending over the past few years. And if it seems like it’s gotten worse in the past 18 months, that’s because it has. In an attempt to make it easier to see just how bad things have gotten, I’ve taken figures compiled by separate sources and listed them all together, sorted by approximate date. I’ve also linked news stories for each separate item. As you can see, it’s no wonder we taxpayers are having trouble keeping track of it all. Between the extravagant “stimulus” plan and the numerous bailouts to which American taxpayers have been subjected, the total amount recently squandered by our government has now reached $9...

Bush commutes sentences of Ramos & Compean

Posted 19 Jan 2009 in George W. Bush, illegal immigration, outrage

After far too long, Bush is finally undoing a travesty of justice: he’s commuted the sentences of Border Patrol Agents Ramos & Compean. Although he should have given both men full pardons, at least they won’t continue to sit in jail for having done their jobs. On his last full day in office, President Bush commuted the controversial sentences of two former Border Patrol agents convicted of shooting a Mexican drug runner in 2005. The imprisonment of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean had sparked outcry from critics who said the men were just doing their jobs and were punished too harshly. They had been sentenced to 11- and 12-year sentences, respectively. Their sentences will now expire on March...

Bush gives Detroit $17.4 BILLION Christmas present

Posted 19 Dec 2008 in bailouts, economy, George W. Bush, incompetence, outrage

I’ll bet you didn’t think you’d be giving such an extravagant gift this year, eh? Well, thanks to President Bush, you and your children better dig deep, because $17.4 billion dollars of your money is going to incompetent American automakers and the union that helped make them the failures they are. Merry Christmas, Detroit. The government will offer up to $17.4 billion in loans to the ailing U.S. automakers and expects General Motors and Chrysler LLC to access the money immediately, a senior administration official said on Friday. Some $13.4 billion will be made available in December and January from the $700 billion fund that was originally designed to rescue struggling financial institutions, but the loans would be called...
