A busy work week means less time to blog, but this was too good not to pass along. Dennis Miller’s take on Islam, terrorism and Nancy Pelosi is not to be missed (vegans beware, this is some juicy red meat!). If only we had a Republican candidate with Miller’s intellect and testicular fortitude.  (h/t: Wizbang) NSFW for some salty language and clever dissemination of the truth.

What really happened after Pelosi passed the gavel to Boehner?

Posted 06 Jan 2011 in humor, Nancy Pelosi

Yesterday’s passing of the gavel from outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi to incoming Speaker John Boehner was fairly uneventful. Things could have ended far differently. (h/t: Michelle Malkin) After the ceremony, Pelosi suffered a mishap on her way out of the House chamber… Buh-bye, Nancy!

Congress’ approval rating hits all-time low 11%

Gee, I wonder why only 11% of Americans think Congress is doing a good job? Gallup’s 2010 Confidence in Institutions poll finds Congress ranking dead last out of the 16 institutions rated this year. Eleven percent of Americans say they have a great deal or quite a lot of confidence in Congress, down from 17% in 2009 and a percentage point lower than the previous low for Congress, recorded in 2008. The Gallup poll was conducted July 8-11, shortly before Congress passed a major financial regulatory reform bill, which President Obama signed into law this week. Underscoring Congress’ image problem, half of Americans now say they have “very little” or no confidence in Congress, up from 38% in 2009...

Congress violates its "Pay-Go" rule by nearly $1 Trillion

Since BP’s “Top Kill” method seems to have worked to stop the gushing of oil into the Gulf, perhaps it’s time to start pumping mud and cement into Congress. Via The Heritage Foundation: On February 4, 2010, pushing for passage of her pay-as-you-go (PAYGO) legislation, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said on the House floor: “When I became Speaker of the House, the very first day we passed legislation that made PAYGO the rule of the House. Today we will make it the law of the land. … So the time is long overdue for this to be taken for granted. The federal government will pay as it goes.” That was the promise. But here is the reality: in...

Over 25k gather in D.C. to protest Obamacare

Posted 20 Mar 2010 in Barack Obama, healthcare, Nancy Pelosi, Obamacare

(Photo courtesy of Michelle Malkin) WASHINGTON — Tens of thousands of protesters marched on the U.S. Capitol on Saturday, airing a wide range of grievances rooted in a shared sentiment: seething anger at President Obama and his far-reaching agenda. Led by a fife and drum corps in period costumes, the demonstrators filled Pennsylvania Avenue and swarmed the Capitol grounds with a sea of bobbing placards and hand-lettered signs that spelled out a catalog of dissent. There were antiabortion protesters and term-limit advocates. Critics of financial bailouts and the federal investigation into CIA interrogation techniques. Marchers who were worried about rekindling inflation and upset about the soaring national debt. Pickets opposed to Obama’s healthcare reform plan and challenging the legitimacy...

Pelosi confirms new tax on "Unearned Income"

Posted 19 Mar 2010 in Barack Obama, healthcare, Nancy Pelosi, taxes

So much for President Obama’s oft-repeated promise of a tax cut for 95% of workers and their families. According to Nancy Pelosi, the government will levy a new tax against so-called “unearned” income. Translation: any and all investment income. Bye-bye, retirement. Gotta pay for the huge new expansion of government, dontchaknow? Looks like the Democrats are overlooking Obama’s tax-cut promise in favor of his “Everybody is going to have to give. Everybody is going to have to have some skin in the game” quote. In this case, “skin” refers to an additional pound of flesh that will be taken by the IRS. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) revealed that a package of amendments to the Senate-passed health care bill...

Final version of ObamaCare: Medicare cuts, tax increases, and 12,000 new IRS agents!

After months of smoke & mirrors and backroom deals, we’re finally seeing the twisted final version of Obamacare. As might be expected from Democrats, it’s stuffed full of special interest carve-outs in addition to huge Medicare cuts and even more tax increases. Specifically, it leverages $560 Billion in tax increases on small businesses, Medicare patients, private health insurance plans, and medical device manufacturers. And it cuts $520 Billion from Medicare, hospitals, nursing homes, hospice & home health programs. No wonder House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Obama are twisting arms and looking for legal loopholes in order to pass this monstrosity rather than allowing a straight up-or-down vote as required in the U.S. Constitution. Some Christmas gift ideas for Congress

Unfortunately, I’ve been way too busy lately to blog. And it’s been very frustrating for me because the healthcare takeover currently being concocted by the Democrats is the most draconian, heavy-handed usurpation of liberty I’ve seen in my lifetime. Since Congressional Democrats insist on foisting upon America a hugely unwanted “gift” of government-run healthcare, and since they are rushing to vote on it in clear defiance of the expressed will of the vast majority of their constituents, I’d like to recommend a few gifts we could send them in return as tokens our esteem. At least until they come home and we can (peacefully) confront them the way we did over the summer at numerous “Town Hall Meetings”. Purchase...

Obama thinks 10% unemployment is a GOOD thing?

***Please scroll down for updates*** Wasn’t Obama’s $3.27 trillion dollar generational-theft “porkulus” supposedly guaranteed to prevent 10% unemployment? Wasn’t that the reason we were given for passing that monstrosity? Silly me, I thought 10% of America being out of work was a bad thing. But not according to The Lightworker. When all else fails (and it has), pretend that the worst economy since the Great Depression is a good thing: Not long ago, an American unemployment rate of 10 percent would have been disturbing news at the White House. But on Friday, it was seen as an early Christmas gift of sorts, a bright spot in a challenging spell for President Obama. Robert Gibbs, the White House press secretary,...

Pelosi: Buy ObamaCare or go to jail

Ah, the compassion of the Democrat party. Now, Speaker Nancy Pelosi is admitting that the 1,990-page bill that was passed in the House last Saturday evening dictates those who fail to obey the federal mandate to buy health insurance will be thrown in prison. Stone: Do you think it’s fair to send people to jail who don’t buy health insurance? Pelosi: … The legislation is very fair in this respect. Ed Morrissey adds a dose of common sense: Nothing requires us to pick up the tab for people in clinics or emergency rooms, especially those who can afford to pay their way. This is the point that Pelosi and her statist colleagues seem to forget. People who choose not...
