‘The Constitution is the Ultimate Pre-Existing Condition’

I’m cautiously optimistic about what I’ve been reading about what our Supreme Court justices have been saying about Obamacare. I earnestly hope they will see it for the unconstitutional power-grab that it is and will overturn it.  If Congress has the power to require that Americans obtain health insurance, U.S. Supreme Court justices on Tuesday asked hypothetical questions on what would be next – insisting that people eat broccoli, buy a cellphone or get burial insurance? During a second day of arguments over President Barack Obama’s 2010 healthcare law, conservative Chief Justice John Roberts likened healthcare services for the sick to such emergency services as police, fire and ambulance assistance.”You don’t know when you’re going to need...

Texas doctors try to shove Obamacare off a cliff

Now that physicians are seeing the unintended consequences of Obamacare, the rubber gloves are coming off. Via The Daily Caller: Two Texas physicians are trying to spark a doctor-led, coast-to-coast push against Obamacare’s takeover of the doctor-patient relationship. Their initial, self-funded TV ad shows an actor, portraying President Barack Obama, throwing a frightened grandmother over a cliff. The grandmother say she wants a pacemaker to save her life, but Obama’s voice announces that “maybe you’re better off not having the surgery, but taking the pain killer.” Obama made that comment at a White House event in 2009, while talking about a 100-year-old woman who got a pacemaker that kept her alive for five years. “We wanted to give him credit...

Petition to Repeal Obamacare posted on White House website

A petition to repeal Obamacare was posted on the White House website last week. (via: Verum Serum) The White House launched a new site last week allowing the public to petition the Administration on various public policy issues. No doubt they intend to use this to mobilize the OFA-MoveOn-Kos armies around various election issues next year, to demonstrate how “popular” the Administration’s positions are. But at the moment the petition site seems to be largely dominated by various fringe issues, such as allowing the sale of raw milk, banning puppy mills, and of course…legalizing marijuana. But some enterprising American managed to create and post a petition which I found just a little more worthwhile: to repeal ObamaCare. Supposedly, if this petition...

Obama: ‘You think we’re stupid?’

Posted 15 Apr 2011 in Barack Obama, economy, healthcare, Obamacare, war

Via USA Today: Thinking that reporters were out of the room, President Obama opened up Thursday night about the recent budget talks with Republicans and what he called their efforts to sneak in attacks on Planned Parenthood and his health care bill. “I said (to Republicans), ‘You want to repeal health care? Go at it,’ ” Obama told backers in a private meeting with an open microphone. ” ‘We’ll have that debate. You’re not going to be able to do that by nickel-and-diming me in the budget.’ “ He said he added: “You think we’re stupid?” Er… From best I can tell, it was meant to be rhetorical, but I can’t help but wonder what the response would have...

Team Obama spent $200 Million on Obamacare propaganda campaign

The Obama Administration has (so far) spent up to $200 million taxpayer dollars to foist Obamacare on the American people. $200 million dollars, stolen from us, to convince us to surrender our liberty and become wards of the U.S. government. Via Judicial Watch: (h/t: Gateway Pundit) Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained documents from the Obama Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) detailing the agency’s massive taxpayer-funded multimedia campaign designed to promote the Affordable Health Care Act (also known as Obamacare) and other HHS policy initiatives. According to the records obtained by Judicial Watch pursuant to a March 23, 2011, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit...

Letter postmarked in 1944 finally delivered in 2011

Government efficiency at its finest. These are the people we want running our healthcare? MONTGOMERY, Ala. — A World War II-era letter mailed to a soldier’s sister at a Red Cross hospital is finally headed for its intended recipient. The letter was postmarked from Montgomery on Aug. 9, 1944, and addressed to a Miss R.T. Fletcher at an American Red Cross hospital at Camp Roberts, California. There was no return address. It was delivered in February to the camp’s historical museum. The postal service couldn’t explain what delayed the letter. The story received worldwide publicity after the museum contacted the Montgomery Advertiser. The newspaper reported Friday that Fletcher’s daughter had come forward. She said her...

Federal judge rules Obamacare unconstitutional

Posted 31 Jan 2011 in healthcare, Obamacare

*** SCROLL DOWN FOR UPDATE *** Florida Judge Vinson: “Because the individual mandate is unconstitutional and not severable, the entire Act must be declared void.” Good news via Bloomberg: President Barack Obama’s health care law, assailed as an abuse of federal power in a 26-state lawsuit, was ruled unconstitutional by a U.S. judge who said Congress overstepped its authority to regulate commerce. U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson in Pensacola, Florida, declared the entire law unconstitutional today in a 78-page opinion . He said the law’s provision requiring Americans over 18 to obtain insurance coverage exceeded Congress’ powers under the commerce clause of the U.S Constitution. Florida filed suit on behalf of...

Obamacare "Death Panels" are back, liberals line up to apologize to Sarah Palin

During the debates about Obamacare in 2009, Sarah Palin was mocked and ridiculed by many on the Left for daring to post on Facebook that Dear Leader’s socialist healthcare plan contained “death panels”: provisions that would ration end-of-life care. The Democrats promise that a government health care system will reduce the cost of health care, but as the economist Thomas Sowell has pointed out, government health care will not reduce the cost; it will simply refuse to pay the cost. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? The sick, the elderly, and the disabled, of course. The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will...

Blogrolling: federal judge declares Obamacare unconstitutional

Posted 13 Dec 2010 in blogrolling, healthcare, Obamacare

Some good news this morning; Obamacare has been declared unconstitutional by Virginia federal Judge Henry E. Hudson. There’s a LOT to read on this decision, and it’s already been handled by several folks with a keen grasp on legal matters who’ve thoroughly read Judge Hudson’s opinion. Here are a few bite-size chunks; hit each link for much more in-depth analysis. via The Wall Street Journal: Judge Calls Health Law Unconstitutional A federal court ruled Monday that a central plank of the health law violates the Constitution, dealing the biggest setback yet to the Obama administration’s signature legislative accomplishment. In a 42-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson said the law’s requirement that most Americans carry insurance or pay...
