This is another of many reasons why we should completely abolish the IRS: An investigative report from Indiana television station WTHR points out a “loophole” in IRS tax code which is costing U.S tax payers billions by enabling illegal immigrants to claim tax credits for children not even living in the U.S.  (h/t: The Western Center for Journalism) Each spring, at tax preparation offices all across the nation, many illegal immigrants are now eagerly filing tax returns to take advantage of a tax loophole, using their ITIN numbers to get huge refunds from the IRS. The loophole is called the Additional Child Tax Credit. It’s a fully-refundable credit of up to $1000 per child, and it’s meant to help working families who have...

The new “Buffett Rule” 1040

Yesterday, President Obama’s latest class warfare tactic, the “Buffett Rule,” was voted down in the Democrat-controlled Senate. Via Weekly Standard: The Senate rejected the so-called Buffett Rule on Monday evening. Fifty-one senators voted in favor the tax increase on high-income owners, officially called the Paying A Fair Share Act, while 45 voted against it. But the Buffett Rule failed to get the necessary 60 votes to invoke cloture and end debate on the bill, effectively killing the rule’s chances of passing the Senate. Only one Republican, Susan Collins of Maine, voted in favor of the Buffett Rule, while Mark Pryor of Arkansas was the only Democrat...

Obama misquotes Reagan to support “Buffett Tax”

Just when I think President Obama couldn’t possibly stoop lower, he does something to prove me wrong. This time, he’s deliberately misquoting President Reagan, implying that The Gipper would have somehow approved of Obama’s “Buffett Tax” of 30% on wealthy Americans. But this just proves that Obama must have failed reading comprehension in school. President Barack Obama invoked Republican icon Ronald Reagan Wednesday in a bid to gain support for his Buffett Rule, saying he’d change the name to the “Reagan Rule” if it meant gaining GOP support. Obama brings up a speech Reagan made (see below) in which he promotes a letter received from a wealthy executive who paid a lower tax rate than his secretary. “I’m not the...

Seeing through Obama’s “Buffett Tax” lunacy

thebuffetttax

Our Divider-In-Chief is ramping up his “fairness” rhetoric and hoping that none of his sheeple notice the abysmal job he’s done with the American economy. With a rousing speech on Tuesday to a receptive university audience of about 5,000 in this battleground state, Mr. Obama defined the coming contest as a clash of philosophies: His argument that tax fairness and the common good demand the richest Americans pay at least as much as middle-income taxpayers do, contrasted with Republicans’ opposition to any tax increases as job killers and class warfare, even at the cost of deep cuts in domestic programs. Of course, his argument is utter nonsense. The “richest Americans” pay a lot more taxes than the middle class...

Now in those days, a decree went out from Caesar Augustus President Obama, that a new tax be collected on all fresh Christmas trees… via The Heritage Network: President Obama’s Agriculture Department today announced that it will impose a new 15-cent charge on all fresh Christmas trees—the Christmas Tree Tax—to support a new Federal program to improve the image and marketing of Christmas trees. In the Federal Register of November 8, 2011, Acting Administrator of Agricultural Marketing David R. Shipman announced that the Secretary of Agriculture will appoint a Christmas Tree Promotion Board.  The purpose of the Board is to run a “program of promotion, research, evaluation, and information designed to strengthen the Christmas tree industry’s position in the...

On International Talk Like A Pirate Day, Captain Obama seeks more plunder (a.k.a. higher taxes)

Avast, ye wealthy dogs! Heave to and prepare to be boarded by the IRS!

How fitting that President Obama chose to give his latest “tax the wealthy” speech on International Talk Like A Pirate Day, because like any good pirate, he’s all about plundering! President Obama, drawing immediate condemnation from congressional Republicans, unveiled a new deficit reduction plan Monday anchored by $1.5 trillion in new taxes, including an end to Bush-era rates for upper income earners making $250,000 or more and additional taxes on millionaires. Keying in on a populist message that millionaires and billionaires should pay more in taxes than their secretaries, the president announced a plan in the Rose Garden that includes more than $2 trillion total in entitlement cuts and tax increases over the next decade. Together with spending cuts...

Obama: Public is ‘sold’ on tax increases in a debt-ceiling deal. Rasmussen: Actually, no, they’re not.

“The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they’re ignorant; it’s just that they know so much that isn’t so.” ~Ronald Reagan, October 27, 1964 As Dear Leader continues his efforts to bluff Republicans into issuing him a blank check for more tax and spend insanity, he let loose with this little bit of demagoguery: President Obama on Friday kept up the pressure on Republicans to agree to revenue increases in a deal to raise the debt ceiling, claiming 80 percent of the public supports Democrats’ demand for tax increases. “The American people are sold,” Obama said. “The problem is members of Congress are dug in ideologically.” [Yeah, and President “I will not yield” Obama isn't dug in ideologically....

Obama’s debt limit plan: $1 trillion in tax increases…after the 2012 election

Obama demagogues Republicans to increase America's debt limit

Several of my Liberal friends on Facebook are wringing their hands over the debt limit stalemate between Democrats and Republicans, as though it’s the GOP that is obstructing the deal. This particular status update struck me as much for its partisanship as for its naiveté: “The clock is ticking. I’m wondering if the Republicans are going to give in to compromise or just allow their little temper tantrum screw us over a bit more.” I find it sad that some are so addled to believe that Democrats are not also to blame for the impasse. But no, it’s just those eeeevil Wepubwicans who are throwing a “little temper tantrum” for refusing to go along with more federal spending supported...

Obama’s “corporate jets” press conference

A petulant President Obama met with reporters yesterday to increase pressure on Republicans involved in the debt limit discussions and to attempt a positive spin on the results of his incompetent domestic and foreign policies. But his talking points — and his answers to reporters questions —  amounted to nothing more than a heavy dose of smoke and mirrors from the Alinsky playbook. Jim Geraghty easily debunked Obama’s primary talking point: if only he could raise taxes on eeeevil corporate jet owners, our country would be able to afford to balance our budget and feed our children. Today he mentioned a tax break for corporate jets six times. He didn’t mention that he signed legislation preserving the tax code...
