Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year”: Truth Edition

Posted 16 Dec 2011 in humor, media bias, Occupy Wall Street

Every year, the editors at TIME honor as “Person Of The Year” the man or woman they believe to have had the greatest impact during the past twelve months. This year, they have chosen to honor protesters. And although the subhead on the cover mentions worldwide protests such as the “Arab Spring” and the protests in Athens and Moscow, the illustration features a knit cap and a facemask which seems to be more of a reference to the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Rather than recognizing anybody’s substantive contributions to technology or medicine or world peace, such as the accomplishment of SEAL Team Six in their elimination of Osama bin Laden, the world’s most infamous terrorist, TIME seems to be making a concerted effort herald a bunch of petulant miscreants who can’t even put forth a coherent message.

Back in January, TIME published an outrageous bit of propaganda which tried to disingenuously equate President Obama with President Reagan. Due to the ridiculous nature of that issue’s cover, it was widely lampooned. I think this TIME cover deserves a similar redesign to more accurately portray the Occupy Wall Street movement.

and you are….WHAT, exactly? Surely you’re not one of those petulant miscreant protesters. Can you point me to the substantive technology, medicine, or world peace contribution parts of your blog?

What a delightful non-sequitur! Nowhere did I ever claim that I deserve to be Time‘s “Person of the Year.” I disagree strongly with their choice of cover material, and I suggested whom I thought more deserving. Your mileage may vary.
