A Christmas gift idea
While you’re enjoying your office Christmas parties and are busy shopping for those perfect gifts for your friends and family, please don’t forget that we still have around 120,000 American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq who won’t be spending Christmas with their loved ones.
Please take just a moment and make a donation to send a care package to the brave men & women for whom duty and country come before self. Here are a few great organizations that provide much-needed support.
Soldier’s Angels has 20 different teams and programs supporting all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces.
“We send letters, care packages, and comfort items to the deployed, and we support their families here at home. We also provide assistance to the wounded, continuing support for veterans, remembrances and comfort for families of the fallen, and immediate response to unique difficulties.”
The USO has a program called “Calling Home For The Holidays” which looks to provide 10 million minutes of talk time for our troops who are spending the holidays far from their families.
Operation Gratitude helps by sending care packages addressed to individual service members deployed overseas.
Wounded Warriors is an awesome group providing services and programs that ease the burdens of the most seriously wounded and their families, aid in the recovery process and smooth their transition back to civilian life. From rehabilitation and prosthetic limbs to adaptive sports, they have a variety of programs to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment and engagement of our soldiers who have returned from the battlefield with service-connected wounds, injuries, or illnesses.
The Home Front Cares is a group who supports the family members of deployed soldiers, providing assistance for utility bills, car repairs, house repairs, childcare, evictions, food, and other family emergencies. They also pay travel costs and incidental expenses of military family members traveling to visit seriously wounded service members in military hospitals.
