Obama to ask for ANOTHER debt limit hike of $1.2 trillion

Just like an irresponsible teenager who has run up his parents cellphone bill, Dear Leader continues to spend heedless of the consequences and is now asking the U.S. taxpayers to fork out $1.2 trillion more. The White House plans to ask Congress by the end of the week for an increase in the government’s debt ceiling to allow the United States to pay its bills on time, according to a senior Treasury Department official on Tuesday. The approval is expected to go through without a challenge, given that Congress is in recess until later in January and the request is in line with an agreement to keep the U.S. government funded into 2013. The debt is projected to fall within...

VIDEO: Ronald Reagan’s 1981 Christmas address

President Reagan wasn’t afraid to speak about Christ, particularly during the time when America celebrates the holiday season honoring Jesus’ birth. I’m posting this video as a refreshing contrast to the current “war on Christmas” attitude which seems far too prevalent lately. Giving the Grinch a run for his money this year, an attorney — acting on behalf of the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF) and local atheist complainant Douglas Marshall — has sent a letter to the mayor of Warren, Mich., threatening legal action against the city unless the mayor allows an “equal time” anti-religion sign next to a nativity scene in the city hall lobby. The reason? Marshall is offended by the expression of faith in the public...

VIDEO: Bill Whittle — “Three Years Under Obama”

Pajamas Media commentator Bill Whittle absolutely destroys our SCOAMF-in-Chief’s record: In his last Afterburner of 2011, Bill Whittle takes a look at the state of this country three years into Obama’s rule and has amassed a list of breathtaking failures bound to stun and/or depress champions of smaller government. Solyndra, Fast & Furious, the Keystone Pipeline and the deficit are just a handful of the scandals that make Bill’s blood boil. So what do we need to do in 2012 to counteract Obama’s policies? Take a look.

Minty the Candycane Who Fell on the Ground

Ok, it’s official. It can be Christmas now. Ever since he appeared last year, I’ve been waiting for the folks on the Conan O’Brien show to bring back Minty – The Candy Cane That Fell on the Ground! And yesterday, they did not disappoint. Ohh, when the holidays come ’round You can hear the sound Of Minty the Candy Cane who briefly fell on the ground. Minty fell on the ground, now Minty’s covered in poo. ‘Cause Minty fell on the ground for just a moment or two! It’s becoming evident He landed in excrement But never fear ’cause Minty’s here To make Christmas excellent! Minty fell on the ground, now Minty’s covered in poo. ‘Cause Minty fell on...

UPDATED: Newt Gingrich didn’t exactly say “all gays should vote for Obama.” There’s more to the story. [Transcript & video added]

Note: I fired off this blog post after reading several corroborating accounts and being very disappointed by them. But I stand corrected, thanks to some of my friends on Google+ who pointed me to some blogs which were reporting the entire story, not just a few sensationalistic words from the conversation. (That’s what I get when I try to rush a post during my lunch break) My original post follows, as well as an update with a video and the transcript of the conversation. — Things like this puts Newt Gingrich in the same homophobic boat as Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann. Newt Gingrich told a gay man and longtime resident of Oskaloosa here today that he should vote for...

Supreme Court issues ruling which might prevent Obama reelection

Good news: the Supreme Court upheld legislation allowing states to require voters to produce a photo ID before being allowed to cast their ballots. The Supreme Court ruled Monday that states can require voters to produce photo identification without violating their constitutional rights, validating Republican-inspired voter ID laws.  In a splintered 6-3 ruling, the court upheld Indiana’s strict photo ID requirement, which Democrats and civil rights groups said would deter poor, older and minority voters from casting ballots. Its backers said it was needed to prevent fraud. It was the most important voting rights case since the Bush v. Gore dispute that sealed the 2000 election for George W. Bush. But the voter ID ruling lacked the conservative-liberal...

North Korea’s “Dear Leader” has assumed room temperature. Official cause of death? “Fatigue.” Kim Jong-il, the second-generation North Korean dictator who defied global condemnation to build nuclear weapons while his people starved, has died at the age of 69, Yonhap News reported. The South Korean military has been put on emergency alert with their communist neighbour now set to follow Kim Jong-il’s son Kim Jong-un, believed to be 27. The news of the death of  “Dear Leader” was delivered by a weeping announcer in a broadcast at noon local time, Yonhap reported, citing North Korea’s official media. The official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said the leader ”passed away from a great mental and physical strain” at 8.30am on Saturday (1030...

Time Magazine’s “Person of the Year”: Truth Edition

Every year, the editors at TIME honor as “Person Of The Year” the man or woman they believe to have had the greatest impact during the past twelve months. This year, they have chosen to honor protesters. And although the subhead on the cover mentions worldwide protests such as the “Arab Spring” and the protests in Athens and Moscow, the illustration features a knit cap and a facemask which seems to be more of a reference to the Occupy Wall Street movement. Rather than recognizing anybody’s substantive contributions to technology or medicine or world peace, such as the accomplishment of SEAL Team Six in their elimination of Osama bin Laden, the world’s most infamous terrorist, TIME seems to be making a concerted effort...

Obama: “Where Congress Is Not Willing To Act, We’re Going To Go Ahead And Do It Ourselves”

King Obama the Tyrant

So much for the Constitutionally-mandated limitations on the Executive Branch (skip ahead to about 2:05 in the video). Via Real Clear Politics: In an interview with KOAA-TV, a local news channel from Colorado Springs, Colorado, President Obama says if Congress is not willing to pass legislation he wants, he will do it himself in order to win another term. Read the transcript below. Rob Quirk, KOAA-TV: “And one year from today we will know if this a one-term or two-term president. So, I asked the president what will it take from now until then to not only win Colorado again, but reelection as well.” President Obama: “Well, what we’re going to have to do is continue to...
