Obama schedules jobs speech on same night as GOP presidential debate. UPDATE: DeMint vows to block speech, White House backs down

Just a few weeks ago, President Obama gave some campaign speeches where he complained about partisanship, “Washington needs to put aside politics and start making decisions based on what is best for our country and not what is best for each of our parties in order to grow the economy and create jobs.” As Jim Geraghty says, “All statements from Barack Obama come with an expiration date. All of them.” Obama’s statement about “putting aside politics” expired today. In an obvious move to co-opt the Republican Presidential Debate next week, Dear Leader has decided he wants to give a speech before a joint session of Congress…at the exact same time. President Obama on Wednesday pulled rank on the Republican presidential candidates,...

Dennis Miller on Islam, terrorism and Nancy Pelosi [VIDEO]

A busy work week means less time to blog, but this was too good not to pass along. Dennis Miller’s take on Islam, terrorism and Nancy Pelosi is not to be missed (vegans beware, this is some juicy red meat!). If only we had a Republican candidate with Miller’s intellect and testicular fortitude.  (h/t: Wizbang) NSFW for some salty language and clever dissemination of the truth.

Fisking the Left’s victimhood mindset

Blog-buddy Kira Davis posted this video on her Google+ stream the other day. And it was so spectacular in its ignorance that I felt the need to address it in this forum because I think it offers valuable insight into the victim mentality of many Democrat voters. Putting aside her laughable mangling of the word “bondage,” allow me to address several of the points she makes in her diatribe. “I feel like I’m in bundage to a fuckin’ job. If I had a choice, I wouldn’t work at all.” Well, gee. Welcome to the world. Most of us would prefer to be able to do whatever we want, whenever we want. But there’s this pesky thing called reality,...

Paul Krugman and the Broken Window Fallacy [VIDEO]

Yesterday, Google+ and Twitter were abuzz with a quote which was attributed to New York Times columnist and economist Paul Krugman:  People on twitter might be joking, but in all seriousness, we would see a bigger boost in spending and hence economic growth if the earthquake had done more damage. It has since been shown to be a fraudulent and this guy has admitted writing the false quote. But the reason everyone fell for it is because Krugman has repeatedly made other ridiculous Keynesian claims that demonstrate a demented view of reality. For instance, only three days after the 9/11 attacks, he said: “Nonetheless, we must ask about the economic aftershocks from Tuesday’s horror. These aftershocks need not be major....

A Tea Party response to Maxine Waters

Posted 22 Aug 2011 in Democrats, hypocrisy, politics, teaparty
After you, ma'am.

Over the weekend, we were treated to yet another example of the Democrat Party’s “new tone,” as called for by President Obama. This time, it was the ethically-challenged Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) who leads the civility charge during a jobs summit at Inglewood High School in California. “I’m not afraid of anybody,” Waters said at the summit in Inglewood, Calif. “This is a tough game. You can’t be intimidated. You can’t be frightened. And as far as I’m concerned, the ‘tea party’ can go straight to Hell.” A prominent tea party group shot back with a statement calling on Obama to check the members of his party and to condemn the rough talk. “We’ve had Democrats calling American citizens ‘terrorists’...

Did Obama’s jobs plan come from The Fifth Element?

Zorg knows he's a monster

In the clip below, Gary Oldman  — as the villainous Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg in the movie, The Fifth Element — explains what is essentially President Obama’s jobs plan. The glass in his metaphor is America’s economy. Oh, Father, you’re so wrong. Let me explain.  Life, which you so nobly serve, comes from destruction, disorder and chaos. Take this empty glass. Here it is, peaceful, serene, boring! But if it is… destroyed!  Look at all these little things. So busy now. Notice how each one is useful. What a lovely ballet ensues, so full of form and color. Now, think about all those people that...

Obama’s $2.2 million dollar “Magical Misery Tour” bus… made in Canada

To prop up his dwindling 39% approval rating, our Community-Organizer-In-Chief decided it would be a good idea to spend $2.2 million dollars of taxpayer funds to purchase two armored buses and embark on a three-day “listening tour.” Yes, that’s $2.2 million dollars for a three-day photo-op. Nevermind that Obama spent more time giving stump speeches and lecturing citizens than he did actually listening. But no, this wasn’t a campaign event. It’s an “official event.” It must be a coincidence that President Obama’s Magical Misery Tour just so happened to take place in battleground states where Obama needs to shore up support for 2012. It must be a coincidence that this three-day tour just so happened to match the location and timing of...

Obama blames “bad luck” for America’s economic woes

Obama_bad_luck

As part of President Obama’s $2.2 million dollar taxpayer-funded bus campaign tour, he’s playing the blame game for everything that is wrong with our economy. In addition to scapegoating Republicans and President Bush for the consequences of three years of Obama policies — a tactic which is obviously getting no traction — he’s now blaming our nation’s current malaise on “a string of bad luck … a bunch of things taking place over the last six months that were not within our control.” You had an Arab Spring in the Middle East that promises more democracy and more human rights for people, but it also drove up gas prices — tough for the economy, a lot of uncertainty.  And then...
