Obama recycles Jimmy Carter’s “Malaise” speech
Welcome back, Carter!
Last week, Laura Ingraham released a video which juxtaposed Jimmy Carter’s infamous “Malaise Speech” (originally known as his “Crisis of Confidence Speech”) with President Obama’s latest rhetoric. The similarities are disturbing. This clip needs to be heard by every American, especially those of us old enough to remember the inadequacies of the Carter presidency.
Via The Blaze‘s Christopher Santarelli:
One a peanut farmer from Georgia, the other a Hawaiian Harvard law grad, before entering politics President Obama and former President Jimmy Carter came from extremely different backgrounds. That said, an increasing number of commentators and political opponents have made the comparison between Obama and Carter administrations.
Friday marked the 32-year-anniversary of Jimmy Carter’s “crisis of confidence” later pegged “malaise speech,” a nationally televised and ill-received address trying to combat what Carter saw as apathy and doubt among Americans concerning politics and the energy crisis. In the days following the speech Carter fired cabinet members feeling that his administration failed to capitalize on a window of opportunity, which some believe was the beginning of the end for Carter and his ability to appear as a strong and significant leader.
We can only hope that this is the beginning of the end of the Hopenchange regime. American can’t afford to continue to repeat the failures of the Carter/Obama administrations.
Just a quick observation from the WayBack™ Machine: back in 2008, many were optimistic that Barack Hussein Obama would be a new kind of Democrat president. CultureFeast had their fingers crossed… [emphasis added below]
First, what a President Obama will not be, he will not be some Islamic Manchurian candidate sent on a secrete mission to convert the United States to Islam. Chances are he will not turn out to be the Anti-Christ and lead the world into seven years of tribulation and he will definitely not destroy the US economy.
On the other hand, President Obama will not be the Mythical seconding coming of JFK and end poverty in this nation and fix all our social issues such as racism and prejudice. Education, healthcare and the environment will not just all of a sudden become great and to borrow a line from Hillary Clinton, a choir of angles will not come down and start singing.
If Obama is lucky and makes the right choices he could be like Harry Truman or FDR, if he is unlucky and makes bad choices he could be Jimmy Carter.
Three years later, how’s that Hopenchange workin’ out for ya?
