*** scroll down for updates *** He’s a jihadist and a pedophile? Thank goodness he was caught before he had the chance to further follow Muhammad’s example. Official: Soldier wanted to attack Fort Hood troops An AWOL Muslim American Army private arrested near Fort Hood, Texas, told investigators that he wanted to attack fellow soldiers outside Fort Hood, two law enforcement officials said Thursday. FBI agents discovered a bevy of potential bomb-making materials in the hotel room of Pfc. Brooklyn Decker

Believe it or not, they’ve made a movie out of the classic board game, Battleship. It stars Liam Neeson, Taylor Kitsch, and Brooklyn Decker. And since Mr. Neeson and Mr. Kitsch aren’t nearly as easy on the eyes as Ms. Decker, she’s this week’s Rule 5 beauty. — Rule 5 Roundup:  The Pirates Cove: Sorta Blogless Sunday Pinup Maggie’s Notebook: Annie Ilonzeh Jake Finnegan: Heather Mitts The Daley Gator: Liza Lapira Proof Positive: Emily Scott Eye of Polyphemus: Sofia Vergara The Camp of the Saints: Luisa Ranieri And no roundup would be complete without The Other McCain’s Full Metal Jacket Reach Around 2.0

Tyrannosaurus Debt: Schoolhouse Rock

TyrannosaurusDebt

Since President Obama has repeatedly demonstrated his inability to grasp the correlation between his unrestrained spending and our nation’s perilous financial situation, perhaps a little Schoolhouse Rock is in order. TOUR GUIDE: To your left, folks, is the Washington Monument, to your right, the White House. And over there, just beyond the Capitol, is the National Debt! TOURISTS: Oooo! Wow! There’s something huge Red, white, and blue That’s grazing in D.C. It’s gobbling up the taxes That are paid by you and me It doesn’t seem to notice We really can’t afford The billions that it’s costing us To pay its room and board It doesn’t roam But seems content To dwell on Capitol Hill As long as trucks keep pulling...

What’s wrong with “The American Dream, Reloaded”?

American Dream Reloaded

I saw “The American Dream, Reloaded” posted on someone’s Google+ page and was intrigued by the title. But not for long. After I clicked the link, I discovered that YES! magazine is a Leftist site. And their “Rebuild the Dream” project is run by communist Van Jones. It’s his attempt to create a far-Left version of the Tea Party and use it to deceive Americans into swallowing Marxist dogma mixed with a hint of American populism. Last weekend, thousands of Americans gathered in homes and public spaces across the country to kick off a movement to reimagine the American Dream. Rebuild the Dream is a project spearheaded by the Center for Community Change and MoveOn, among many other organizations [red flag! —...

Obama 2008: ‘We Won’t Just Throw Money at the Problem’

Obama_Urkel

Another petard hoist from Obama’s 2008 campaign. “We won’t just throw money at the problem,” Obama said in his weekly radio address and Internet video. “We’ll measure progress by the reforms we make and the results we achieve — by the jobs we create, by the energy we save, by whether America is more competitive in the world.” At the time of Obama’s speech, President Bush had already indulged in a lot of wild spending and senseless bailouts, and a Obama’s promise of smarter spending sounded good to a lot of people. But after 43% of Americans installed an inexperienced community organizer into the Oval Office, we’re finding that “throwing money at the problem” is just about all Obama...

At least seven people were killed and two 15 seriously injured today in a cowardly terrorist attack in Oslo, Norway. From YouTube: “Amateur footage captures the eerie moments direct after a blast hits central Oslo, wrecking the Office of the Prime Minister, and setting fires in the Norwegian Oil Ministry opposite.” The New York Times is reporting the event as well as a claim of responsibility: Powerful explosions shook central Oslo on Friday afternoon, blowing out the windows of several government buildings, including one housing the office of the Norwegian prime minister. The state television broadcaster, citing the police, said seven people were killed and at least 15 injured; a spokeswoman for the prime minister,...

Obama breaks all promises, except the promise to raise taxes

Obama: “Nobody’s looking to raise taxes right now. We’re talking about, potentially, 2013.” Nobody’s looking to raise taxes right now? Try telling that to the Gang of Six.

Twitter silences the most effective state-level Conservative group in the country

Let’s review: liberal Congressman Anthony Weiner can send pornographic photos of himself and not lose his Twitter privileges. But conservative group EmpowerTexans gets their feed shut down (along with the personal accounts of all their staff) for no discernable reason? I wonder if the folks at Twitter got their little bird logo embroidered on those new brown shirts of theirs. via RedState: I have long considered Empower Texans to be the most important and effective state level conservative grassroots organization in the country. These people are not just respected in Texas; they are feared. It is an awesome thing to behold. Michael Quinn Sullivan and company do excellent work educating Texans on the men who go to Austin claiming to...

Gang of Six: The Worst Plan So Far

Posted 20 Jul 2011 in Democrats, economy
Once again, the Dems hold the ball for Republicans to kick

To quote Lando Calrissian, “This deal is getting worse all the time!” Via NRO: Only ten days ago, Republicans appeared to regain their footing when House Speaker John Boehner torpedoed the disastrous “grand bargain” that President Obama was offering. That deal would have forced Republicans to accept a massive $1 trillion tax hike and left Obamacare in place. In return, the president offered more centrally planned cuts in Medicare and Medicaid and other minor entitlement adjustments. Some deal. But now, along comes the Gang of Six plan, and some Republicans are apparently intrigued by it. They shouldn’t be. It’s a terrible, terrible plan. It will hand the president a huge strategic victory and deliver nothing that the GOP should be seeking in...
