FBI raids Dallas Commissioner John Wiley Price’s office and home

It’s looking like a banner day for Democrats. First, Rod Blagojevich, the former Democrat governor of Illinois, was convicted on 17 of 20 counts in his corruption and bribery trial in Chicago.

And now John Wiley Price, the obnoxious Dallas county commissioner who recently made headlines by telling his constituents to “All of you are white. Go to hell” is being investigated by the FBI. Not for making racist statements, mind you. It appears the Feds might be looking into some serious corruption charges.

Federal agents peer into a classic car parked in the driveway at John Wiley Price’s Oak Cliff home on Monday.

DALLAS – Federal agents raided the office and home of Dallas County commissioner John Wiley Price Monday morning, as well as the home of his longtime assistant.

FBI agents descended on the Commissioner’s Court building at 411 Elm Street at 9 a.m. and restricted access to the building for their search. They allowed access to the Sixth Floor Museum at the rear of the building.

Other agents searched Price’s home in Oak Cliff. A locksmith was called to that address, and later a safe company brought a forklift to the home’s garage.

FBI agents also executed search Price’s political consultant Kathy Nealy’s office and the DeSoto home of Daphne Fain, Price’s longtime assistant. Several boxes were removed from that home.

The FBI dispelled rumors that Commissioner Mike Cantrell’s office was being searched.

It is still unclear exactly what the FBI is investigating at this point. Several previously opened investigations could possibly involve Price and other county commissioners, including:

• a probe into the Inland Port failure in southern Dallas County
• special investigation into deputy constables working KwanzaaFest in which $15,000 was not repaid

The FBI has not made any statement thus far about today’s developments.

Fellow Commissioner Maureen Dickey, who angrily ranted at Price earlier this month for what she felt was an unfairly redrawn district map, told reporters in front of the court building that this was “a happy day for Dallas County.”

Here’s hoping the FBI finds the real dirt on this guy. He’s been very blatant in his desire to shake down local businesses for racial purposes.

Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price states categorically that he is not interested in the jobs that will be produced by development of a vast rail, trucking and warehousing hub [i.e. the “Inland Port”] in his district. By the way, the projection is for 60,000 new jobs associated with this exciting development.

He sneers at jobs as something for “Negroes.” He says that anyone who wants to come into South Dallas and make money needs to give an equity share in his business to somebody black in South Dallas. And he states boldly his intention to use his power as a government official — especially in the creation of trade zones — to force The Allen Group to do just that.

Dallas County Judge Jim Foster testified in a 2009 legal proceeding that Price had been under FBI investigation regarding the Inland Port development in south Dallas County.

Maybe Price is in hot water for his Inland Port malfeasance, or perhaps it might have something to do with his recent gerrymandering scheme with radical Democrat activist George Soros:

Mr. Price has teamed up with the billionaire tycoon speculator of Brazilian oil, George Soros, a leftist financier of radical extremist organizations, to ensure that the Dallas County Commissioners’ Court remains in Democratic hands for the rest of the decade through his redistricting strategy.

According to Texas GOP Vote, “the June 14th weekly Dallas County Commissioners’ Court public meeting yielded fewer fireworks than the previous week’s, but more troubling conduct by some of our Commissioners. Last week the Democrat-controlled DCCC, after three earlier public hearings and community/activist input that formed the basis of the only working map the public knew about, hocked out of nowhere, and voted to pass, a ‘surprise’ map that flipped the numbers of two districts, effectively eliminating the right of voters in the only clearly Republican-majority district to elect their Commissioner on the statutorily established four-year cycle.”

Regardless of what the FBI is looking for, our local CBS affiliate hints at how big this might be:

The searches come six years after the FBI raided Dallas City Hall in the city’s largest public corruption scandal – in which 16 people were indicted, convicted or pled guilty.

Of course, the real question is: how long will it take before John Wiley Price claims to be a victim of racism?

RELATED: Dallas Morning News editorial writer Tod Robberson nailed it:

What goes around, comes around. John Wiley Price has devoted his political career to incivility and introducing bile and rancor into every topic he touches. He insults people. He yells. He bullies.

This FBI investigation couldn’t have happened to a more deserving person. Yes, he deserves his day in court, and I’m sure that’s coming. Yes, he deserves the presumption of innocence. But he also deserves all of the inconvenience, frustration and expense this investigation will force upon him because his actions have invited this kind of investigation.

I’m surprised that Attny Gen. Holder didn’t intercede and stop this investigation. Just like he is stalling the Mexican gun running scam and those Black Panther Punks for violating the voter’s rights act.

For some reason since I heard about this on the radio today I’ve been in a really good mood.

Hmm….not bad, altho the Blago verdict today, this must’ve been more like the cherry on top of the Sundae.

The former speaker of the Massachusetts State House, Sal DiMasi, was found guilty of 7 of 9 extortion charges last week. DiMasi’s just keeping the tradition alive, tho’. The last two speakers had to resign after being found guilty of obstruction of justice or tax evasion.

I’ll let you guess the political party, tho’.
