Obama’s “corporate jets” press conference

A petulant President Obama met with reporters yesterday to increase pressure on Republicans involved in the debt limit discussions and to attempt a positive spin on the results of his incompetent domestic and foreign policies. But his talking points — and his answers to reporters questions —  amounted to nothing more than a heavy dose of smoke and mirrors from the Alinsky playbook. Jim Geraghty easily debunked Obama’s primary talking point: if only he could raise taxes on eeeevil corporate jet owners, our country would be able to afford to balance our budget and feed our children. Today he mentioned a tax break for corporate jets six times. He didn’t mention that he signed legislation preserving the tax code...

White House puts doctor surveillance plan on hold

HHS spying on doctors for the Obama administration

President Ronald Reagan famously quipped, “If you can’t make them see the light, make them feel the heat.” Earlier this week, I posed about the Obama administration’s outrageous plan to use “mystery shoppers” to pose as patients and call doctors offices to find out which physicians turn away patients with government health plans that pay lower reimbursement rates. This government surveillance of the private sector was somehow supposed to solve the doctor shortage caused by Obamacare. But now, Obama’s espionage plan has been put on hold because too many people made them feel the heat: The Obama administration will not move forward on a controversial proposal to have “secret shoppers” pose as patients to investigate how difficult it is...

13 factual errors in Time’s cover story about the Constitution

Richard Stengel's ignorant cover story about the Constitution

Just in time for Independence Day, Aaron Worthing posted an article on Patterico’s Pontifications that all liberty-loving Americans simply MUST read. In it, Worthing thoroughly spanks Richard Stengel, Time‘s Managing Editor and designated expert on the U.S. Constitution, not only for his ignorant interpretation of our founding document but primarily for the 13 factual errors in Time‘s essay/cover story, entitled “One Document, Under Seige.” A fisking this meticulous is a major palate-cleanser, and a thoroughly delightful way to get you over the Wednesday hump. Enjoy! Late last week, I fisked Richard Stengel’s Time Magazine cover story  “One Document, Under Seige” (update: click here for the one page version) but it deserves more discussion.  I consider it nothing less than...

Obama administration to secretly investigate doctors

In East Germany, the Secret Police was called Stasi. In the Soviet Union, they were known as the KGB. In the Obama administration, they’re choosing to call them “mystery shoppers.” But regardless of euphemism, our government is embarking on an espionage campaign to spy on American physicians: Alarmed by a shortage of primary care doctors, Obama administration officials are recruiting a team of “mystery shoppers” to pose as patients, call doctors’ offices and request appointments to see how difficult it is for people to get care when they need it. The administration says the survey will address a “critical public policy problem”: the increasing shortage of primary care doctors, including specialists in internal medicine and family practice. It will...

It’s looking like a banner day for Democrats. First, Rod Blagojevich, the former Democrat governor of Illinois, was convicted on 17 of 20 counts in his corruption and bribery trial in Chicago. And now John Wiley Price, the obnoxious Dallas county commissioner who recently made headlines by telling his constituents to “All of you are white. Go to hell” is being investigated by the FBI. Not for making racist statements, mind you. It appears the Feds might be looking into some serious corruption charges.   Federal agents peer into a classic car parked in the driveway at John Wiley Price’s Oak Cliff home on Monday. Blagojevich convicted on 17 corruption counts

Blagojevich found guilty in Chicago corruption case

Rod Blagojevich, the former Democrat governor of Illinois, has been convicted on 17 of 20 counts in his corruption and bribery trial in Chicago. If you’ll recall, he tried to sell or trade President Barack Obama’s old Senate seat and was recorded saying, “I’ve got this thing and it’s f***ing golden. And I… I’m just not giving it up for f***ing nothing.” Now he might get the chance to “give it up” in a federal penitentiary. The Chicago Tribune reports: A federal jury today convicted former Gov. Rod Blagojevich on 17 of 20 counts, finding he brazenly abused the powers of his office in a series of attempted shakedowns captured on undercover government recordings. …This marks...

An epic reinterpretation of Reagan’s 1980 question, “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” “An attempt to show that our political elite is selling us down a river by devaluing our currency, thereby initiating inflation. Prices aren’t going up because of corporate greed, the political elite all over the world are devaluing fiat currencies to pay for debt they created. Hence the movement to precious metals … something no government can print at will. Be sure to watch the end.” Via Left Coast Rebel, via the Lonely Conservative, Maggie’s Notebook, Reaganite Republican, Conservative Hideout, The Augur’s Well, 5ft3, TeresAmerica, Bunkerville, Always on Watch, Jus’ Sayin’, America’s Watchtower, “My Blog,” Mueller Stuff, Trestin Meacham, Conservatives on Fire, The Conservative Lady, and Mind-Numbed Robot…

Sergeant Major Of Marine Corps sounds off on gays in the military

The U.S. military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy has been pretty much a radioactive subject ever since it was implemented by President Clinton in 1993. Ever since then, there have been two vastly different factions who wanted to see DADT repealed: some want gays to be allowed to serve openly in the military, others don’t want gays in the military at all.  A third group wants homosexuals to be allowed to serve, but that they must keep quiet about their sexual orientation; i.e. continuing “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”. In my post about the Republican debate in New Hampshire, I criticized the fact that most GOP candidates were pretty ambiguous in their answers regarding gays in the military. The Wall...
