Osama bin Laden killed by CIA-led SEAL squadron!
*** Story is still breaking, this post will be updated with more info as it’s reported. ***
“All men have an emotion to kill; when they strongly dislike someone, they involuntarily wish he was dead. I have never killed any one, but I have read some obituary notices with great satisfaction.” ~Clarence Darrow
The Administration is telling senior sources of Congress that the US has in custody and has identified the dead body of Osama Bin Laden.
How fitting that this occurred on the 8-year anniversary of President Bush’s “Mission Accomplished” speech. Congratulations to the United States military! Hoooah!!
Reportedly, bin Laden was in a compound in Abbottābad, Pakistan when he was killed by U.S. armed forces. Some sources claim Osama was killed last Sunday, but was held back pending DNA results. President Obama announced tonight that the strike occurred today in a targeted assault in Pakistan.
Pocky-stahn, you’ve got some ‘splainin’ to do!
UPDATE: U.S. Navy SEAL Team Six got the job done!
Years of tracking the world’s most-wanted terrorist culminated Sunday afternoon, when a CIA-led Navy SEALs squadron of just a few dozen men stormed Usama bin Laden’s compound and killed him.
[...]
Within hours, the architect of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks that killed more than 3,000 people was buried at sea.
[...]
According to officials, a 40-man Navy SEALs squadron raided bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, at 3:30 p.m. ET on Sunday. As officials described it, the raid was swift — the team was on the compound for less than 40 minutes and did not run into any local authorities during the firefight.
[...]
At first, bin Laden was asked to surrender. But a military official said he resisted. In the end, he was killed in the ensuing firefight with a bullet to the head.No Americans were hurt or killed during the raid. Besides bin Laden, three other men were killed, one of whom is believed to be bin Laden’s 24-year-old son. One woman used as a human shield was also killed, and two other women were injured.
National Journal reports that Bin Laden was taken out with a double-tap (nice shooting, SEALs!):
After bursts of fire over 40 minutes, 22 people were killed or captured. One of the dead was Osama bin Laden, done in by a double tap — boom, boom — to the left side of his face.
Raise a glass — or several — to America’s military! CNN has details of how U.S. forces conducted the mission. ABC posted a video from inside Osama’s compound:
Not surprisingly, Osama went out like a punk, hiding behind his wife:
Two Bin Laden couriers were killed, as was Osama Bin Laden’s son Khalid and a woman. U.S. officials said Bin Laden and the other men used the three women in the compound as human shields, and the woman who died was shielding Bin Laden. The other two women were injured. Children were present in the compound but were not harmed. U.S. officials said that Bin Laden himself fired his weapon during the fight, and that he was asked to surrender but did not. He was shot in the head and then shot again to make sure he was dead.
Since Saudi Arabia refused to claim their native son, Osama bin Laden has been buried at sea to prevent his grave from becoming a Muslim pilgrimage site. Eat hearty, fishies! He’s halal!

UPDATE: Video of President Obama’s speech on the death of Osama bin Laden…
Both George W. Bush AND Barack H. Obama deserve credit for bringing OBL to justice. I think Obama did good by authorizing OBL’s death, but at the same time I think it’s narcissistic and underhanded that President Obama refused to even mention President Bush’s integral role in this operation. Any occupant of the Oval Office (well, except for Clinton) would have given the go-ahead to kill Bin Laden, but Obama’s announcement tonight was laced with unnecessarily self-important verbiage: (full transcript here)
“I directed Leon Panetta… I was briefed… I met repeatedly… I determined… at my direction… I, as Commander-in-Chief…”
Umm, news flash; U.S. armed forces have had standing orders to kill OBL since 2001 under President George W. Bush. So let’s give credit where credit is due…
Thankfully, Obama didn’t rescind the order the way he intended to close Guantanamo, which is where we obtained the intel that led us to Bin Laden:
It started with a courier’s name.Senior White House officials said early Monday that the trail that led to Osama bin Laden began before 9/11, before the terror attacks that brought bin Laden to prominence. The trail warmed up last fall, when it discovered an elaborate compound in Pakistan.
“From the time that we first recognized bin Laden as a threat, the U.S. gathered information on people in bin Laden’s circle, including his personal couriers,” a senior official in the Obama administration said in a background briefing from the White House.
After the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, “detainees gave us information on couriers. One courier in particular had our constant attention. Detainees gave us his nom de guerre, his pseudonym, and also identified this man as one of the few couriers trusted by bin Laden.”
In 2007, the U.S. learned the man’s name.
In 2009, “we identified areas in Pakistan where the courier and his brother operated. They were very careful, reinforcing belief we were on the right track.”
In August 2010, “we found their home in Abbottabad,” in an isolated area.
That’s right, kids. Since we waterboarded Khalid Sheikh Mohammed for 40 seconds, we got the information needed to find and kill Osama bin Laden.
Luckily, US Navy SEALs shot OBL in the head and disposed of his body at sea, saving us the trouble of bringing him back to America to stand trial under the (mis)direction of Attorney General Eric Holder.
Via CNN:
Bin Laden’s body was later buried at sea, an official said. Many Muslims adhere to the belief that bodies should be buried within one day.The official did not release additional details about the burial, but said it was handled in keeping with Muslim customs.
If we were to handle OBL’s body in keeping with Muslim customs, he should have been dragged through the streets of New York City the same way Muslims dragged the bodies of American soldiers through the streets of Mogadishu and set them on fire. America treated this fleabag with far more dignity than he deserved.

UPDATE: It would appear this has been building for a while now. There’s a news story from just a few days ago wherein jihadi scumbags threatened nuclear retaliation if we kill Bin Laden. They must have known something was about to happen.
Al-Qaida terrorists have threatened to unleash a “nuclear hellstorm” on the West if their leader and world’s most wanted terrorist Osama bin Laden is nabbed.
A senior Al-Qaida commander has claimed that the terror group has stashed away a nuclear bomb in Europe which will be detonated if bin Laden is ever caught or assassinated, according to new top secret files made public by whistleblower website WikiLeaks.

UPDATE: While President Obama strains his arm patting himself on the back, it should be remembered that the Navy SEALs who killed Bin Laden are the same troops whose salaries he threatened to veto during last month’s budget showdown.

EXIT QUESTION: Now that we know Pakistani security forces allegedly helped Osama bin Laden evade American troops for almost 10 years, what will President Obama’s next move be? If Pocky-stahn wilfully harbors the most infamous terrorist in the world, doesn’t that make them our enemies?
American diplomats were told that one of the key reasons why they had failed to find bin Laden was that Pakistan’s security services tipped him off whenever US troops approached.Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate (ISID) also allegedly smuggled al-Qaeda terrorists through airport security to help them avoid capture and sent a unit into Afghanistan to fight alongside the Taliban.
The claims, made in leaked US government files obtained by Wikileaks, will add to questions over Pakistan’s capacity to fight al-Qaeda.
Last year, David Cameron caused a diplomatic furore when he told Pakistan that it could not “look both ways” on terrorism. The Pakistani government issued a strongly-worded rebuttal.
But bin Laden was eventually tracked down and killed in compound located just a few hundred yards from Pakistan’s prestigious military academy in Abbotabad.
“We will not waver; we will not tire; we will not falter; and we will not fail.”
~ President George W. Bush

UPDATE: Many of the details of Sunday’s raid listed above are now being walked back by the White House. SEAL Team Six are still the deadliest SpecOps team on the planet, but the Obama Administration is clearly “the gang that couldn’t shoot straight.”
The White House has revised its version of what happened during the raid on Osama bin Laden’s home in several significant ways since its first briefings.
Check out all the erroneous “facts” that were presented just a couple days ago.

Looks to me like he got punched at least once in the dome. Too bad the wonderful crew that pulled this off will probably never be officially recognized.

They won't be "publicly recognized".
There's a massive difference.
