Obama: ‘You think we’re stupid?’
Via USA Today:
Thinking that reporters were out of the room, President Obama opened up Thursday night about the recent budget talks with Republicans and what he called their efforts to sneak in attacks on Planned Parenthood and his health care bill.
“I said (to Republicans), ‘You want to repeal health care? Go at it,’ ” Obama told backers in a private meeting with an open microphone.
” ‘We’ll have that debate. You’re not going to be able to do that by nickel-and-diming me in the budget.’ “
He said he added: “You think we’re stupid?”
Er…
From best I can tell, it was meant to be rhetorical, but I can’t help but wonder what the response would have been if Bush had the arrogance (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/arrogant) to ask such a question. I imagine the left would have given him a resounding, “YES!” The reality is, we haven’t really had a truly stupid president since Carter. So if these guys are so smart why do they do, what many of us see as, horrendously stupid things? I have always been of the opinion that if a politician does something incredibly stupid that he, and/or his buddies, are scraping profits from it in one way or another.
Anyhow,…
Back to Mr. Obama’s question…. “You think we’re stupid?” He didn’t answer it and neither did anyone else at the time. However, his words directed at Paul Ryan (during the same event) help us to find the answer.
Obama: “When Paul Ryan says his priority is to make sure, he’s just being America’s accountant … This is the same guy that voted for two wars that were unpaid for, voted for the Bush tax cuts that were unpaid for, voted for the prescription drug bill that cost as much as my health care bill — but wasn’t paid for … So it’s not on the level.“
Apparently going back to the Bush years to justify his own prerogative is a dead horse that cannot be beaten enough. The hypocrisy meter is way off the charts with the notion that, by highlighting the faults of Bush and the Republicans, it will excuse the SAME faults made by Mr. Obama’s administration and the Democrats. What really compounds this hypocrisy is that not only do they follow the same doctrines that they say got us into trouble, but they exponentially expand upon them. One HUGE example is Mr. Obama’s deficit argument. It goes like this, “During the Clinton administration, WE (as if Obama had anything to do with it) had a budget surplus. Then when Bush came along HE (only Bush gets the blame for this) spent the surplus and now WE (because WE all suffered together under Bush) have a deficit because of it. So I had to increase spending to get us out of this mess.” Following the logic of that statement, we know that he thinks Clinton did it right, Bush did it wrong and that by his increasing the deficit even more than Bush did, -THAT will make himself right. The fact that so many people buy into this logic and this form of argument is shocking.
With regards to his rant on Paul Ryan, I an average American watching this unfold, say this:
- Libya IS a war and it was NEVER voted on by OUR Congress. Therefore it was not approved to be paid for AT ALL. The taxpayers WILL end up with the tab though. So in reality, ALL U.S. military action IS paid for, -in EVERY instance it occurs. The difference with Iraq/Afghanistan is,… the budget for Iraq and Afghanistan were voted on and approved several times by both Republicans and Democrats in Congress. Paul Ryan, in his bill and in his comments, may be showing that he learned from the Iraq and Afghanistan experience. It is blatantly apparent, by Mr. Obama’s comments and actions that he, himself, learned nothing.
- Tax cuts do NOT have to be paid for. The notion that the government has to tax someone in order to give them back a tax cut is ludicrous. Besides, the fed didn’t EARN that money. We taxpayers did. How dare they steal from us to fund their hordes of idiotic programs, then imply that we have to give them MORE money in order to give it back to us in the form of tax cuts. You want to steal from me so that you can turn around and give me back a small portion? Whatever!
- Is the president implying that the Prescription Drug Bill wasn’t a good idea because of cost? If so, then how is the HCR Bill any better? As far as I can see, the HCR Bill has no funding… yet… -the taxpayers are bracing for that bill (which is imminent).
Who’s buying into this garbage? After 2+ years, it is clear that the best counter attack in Mr. Obama’s repertoire was born on the elementary playground. It hearkens back to my days as a 2nd grader, – you know, when you would hear intelligent shots such as… “Nah nah, nah nah, boo boo…” and “Nuh uh! You’re stupider than me!” For someone who is branded as “intellectual” and “articulate” – his skills are waning and it is getting really, REALLY, old.
To answer his own question…. I don’t think Obama is stupid at all. I think he’s methodical. Given his background, his choices and his inner circle’s love for Marxism, it appears that everything he does is another step closer in trying to bring the system down. It’s not stupidity. It’s intentional.
However, anyone that buys Mr. Obama’s “incredibly articulate” double-talk IS, by my estimation, abundantly stupid. He knows it and anticipates the approval of his sheep. Unfortunately, a great many people in our nation are buying into this cult of personality. Mr. Obama counts on these “sheeple” to absorb his circular logic and tired counter arguments. His words zoom straight past their “intellectual” brains and into their little liberal souls. I imagine that it probably tickles, but who knows? I can tell you that it totally rubs those who are paying attention -the wrong way. This is the best leadership we can get in our blessed United States? Cripes!
God help us.
