A Marine and his wife were attacked outside a movie theater on Christmas day after asking a noisy group of teens to be quiet during a showing of “Little Fockers,” The Bradenton (Fla.) Herald reported Tuesday.

The Florida brawl — which attracted about 300 bystanders — started after Frederico Freire, a 27-year-old Marine on leave from Afghanistan, and his wife Kayln Freire asked the flock of about 20 teens to hush during the comedy sequel starring Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro.

The teens cursed at the couple and Kayln Freire alerted a manager, who asked the troublemakers to leave.

The frustrated pair left the theater shortly after, too aggravated to enjoy the critically-slammed movie. But the Freires found themselves surrounded by the riled teens in the parking lot and a group of males started kicking and punching the Marine.

“I got back up to defend myself and they started running everywhere,” Frederico Freire told the paper, adding that he saw one of the teens — shirtless — punch his wife in the face, knocking her out, as she tried to get to safety.

Yes, you read that right. It got even more ridiculous.

Freire said he was kicked and punched as he and his wife tried to run from the group.

“I leaned down to grab my purse and there were literally 100 teens around us,” Kalyn Freire said, “While the manager was in the corner with his mouth open and not doing anything.”

Freire said one bystander stepped forward and told the couple to follow him to his car, saying he could scare the crowd off with a gun. But before the two reached the man’s vehicle, one of the teenagers said, “I’m going to knock your wife out,” before punching Freire’s wife to the ground, the couple said.

“I’m gonna knock your wife out?” Some boy took off his shirt so he could punch a woman in the face for “shusshing” him? Man, his parents must be proud.

A witness brandished a gun in an attempt to break up the mayhem and deputies soon arrived.

Four teens and one adult were arrested and about 300 bystanders had gathered by the end of the incident. As deputies tried to restore order, the movie theater manager had to shut down the facility — and dole out thousands of dollars in refunds to patrons.

Freire and his wife were not seriously injured, but he said he considered filing lawsuits against his attackers and the theater for failing to provide adequate security.

“I’m fine. My wife’s face is all swollen up. She’s got cuts in the inside of her mouth. I was able to defend myself pretty good because of my training, but I was more worried about her,” he said.

What is wrong with some people? How is it that belligerent teenagers think they’ve got the right to be loud and ruin everyone else’s enjoyment of a (abeit horrible) movie? Whatever happened to respect and courtesy? And why, after being rightfully ejected for bad behavior, did these imbeciles think they needed to stick around and assault someone who simply asked them to be quiet?

It’s just too bad the Marine didn’t get all Cameron Poe on some of those teenagers. And too bad that the entire bloodthirsty crowd that gathered to watch and join in weren’t pepper-sprayed and/or tased.

UPDATE: A gang of teens waited to ambush this couple as they came out of the theater. But now, one of the girls involved in the assault has filed a complaint against the Marine.

A 14-year-old girl who was told to be quiet by a Marine and his wife on Christmas night at a local theater during a movie has filed a battery complaint with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The Marine, Federico Freire. 27, denied the girl’s charge, and the sheriff’s office will not pursue the complaint, saying there were inconsistencies in the girl’s statement and that the case is closed.

“We investigated the complaint, and there isn’t even enough there to send to the State Attorney’s Office,” said sheriff’s office spokesman Dave Bristow.

Brittnee Collins, of Bradenton, filed a complaint Tuesday stating she was struck in the lip by an unknown man outside the Carmike Royal Palm 20 theater after words were exchanged with Freire’s wife, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Collins depicted a slightly different version of events after Freire, who is on a two-week leave from Afghanistan, and his wife, Kayln, went public with their story.

…A deputy noted there was no bruising on Collins’ lip when the report was filed Tuesday.

Bristow said the girl’s complaint will be closed out because there’s not enough evidence to support a charge.

Of course, they wasted no time getting on TV and claiming to be victims.

One of the “crinimals” [sic] arrested by police was a 20-year-old girl.

As deputies began to investigate a crowd of over 100 people gathered outside the theater.

After making several arrests the theater’s manager asked deputies to remove anyone who did not have a ticket or a reason to stay.

One teen was asked several times to leave and refused, so a deputy attempted to arrest him, investigators said.

Deputies said at some point 20 year-old Destiny McNeil, a relative of the teen, and a 2nd teen attempted to intervene and prevent the arrest.

That teen allegedly refused repeated requests to leave and had to be tasered. Both were arrested.

At that point a crowd over 300 gathered and deputies began to disperse the crowd.

No other arrests were made, but one of the deputies’ patrol cars had been damaged by one of the juvenile suspects as he was being arrested.
