Thank you! Veterans Day 2010
Take a moment to thank our brave men and women in uniform, past and present, for the freedom you enjoy today. Their service and honor can never be fully repaid. If possible, please make the effort to shake a soldier’s hand and express your gratitude personally.
If you don’t personally know any veterans or aren’t sure what you can do, head on over to USO.com to Send Your Thanks To The Troops (you can also donate to the USO).
“A man who is good enough to shed his blood for his country is good enough to be given a square deal afterwards.” – Theodore Roosevelt
Personally, I don’t believe our nation does nearly enough to care for the needs of the men and women who’ve sacrificed their time, health, and limbs to protect our freedom. So if our government can’t or won’t, it’s up to us to assume responsibility.
Please consider saying “thank you” by making a charitable donation today while it’s fresh in your mind. There are several worthy organizations whose efforts honor those who’ve sacrificed for our country. Here are just a few…
Soldier’s Angels is one of my favorite charities. They have 20 different teams and programs supporting all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces.
“We send letters, care packages, and comfort items to the deployed, and we support their families here at home. We also provide assistance to the wounded, continuing support for veterans, remembrances and comfort for families of the fallen, and immediate response to unique difficulties.”
Wounded Warriors provides services and programs that ease the burdens of the most seriously wounded and their families, aid in the recovery process and smooth their transition back to civilian life.
Operation Gratitude helps by sending care packages addressed to individual service members deployed overseas.
You can also contribute to Project VALOUR-IT, a division of Soldier’s Angels that helps provide voice-controlled/adaptive laptop computers and other technology to support Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines recovering from hand wounds and other severe injuries.
