Religion of Peace update: Ground Zero mosque developers want $5 million in taxpayer funds
It’s bad enough that the Obama administration uses federal funds to pay for Islamic mission trips.
And it’s even more offensive that we’re allowing Islamic supremacists to build a victory mosque close to Ground Zero.
But in their newest act of depredation, the developers of the Ground Zero mosque want American taxpayers to pay $5 million dollars for it!
An application to secure funding from federal 9/11 aid to build a controversial Islamic center two blocks from Ground Zero is drawing fire from critics who decry the move as insensitive.“In November 2010, Park51 submitted several grant requests to the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, a New York state agency. The agency was established to help redevelop Lower Manhattan’s economy after the 9/11 attacks,” the proposed center, Park51, reports on its website.
At least one of those requests was submitted under the Lower Manhattan Community and Cultural Enhancement Program, and amounted to roughly $5 million, sources told the Daily Beast.
The move is raising further controversy among those who have argued that the center’s proposed location shows a lack of sensitivity to the families of 9/11 victims.
“It is entirely wrong for any taxpayer money to be used to fund the ground zero mosque,” Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., told FoxNews.com. “This is particularly true when it is being done in such a secretive way. This just further offends the memory of all those who were murdered on Sept. 11th.”
Irshad Manji, author of “The Trouble with Islam” agreed.
“If Imam Feisal and his retinue want to know why they’re not trusted, here’s yet another reason,” Manji told the Daily Beast. “The New Yorkers I speak with have questions about Park51. Requesting money from public coffers without engaging the public shows a staggering lack of empathy — especially from a man who says he’s all about dialogue.”
Just because the application is technically “within the grant’s guidelines,” it still amounts to federal funding of a mosque. Saying that the money won’t “benefit” the portion used as a worship facility is completely disingenuous. It all goes toward the same end result. Imam Feisal cannot be trusted, especially when he tells Americans one thing and says the exact opposite when speaking to Arabs.
On March 24, 2010, Imam Abdul Rauf was quoted in an article in Arabic for the website Rights4All entitled The Most Prominent Imam in New York: ‘I Do Not Believe in Religious Dialogue. In the article, he clearly indicates that he does not believe in religious dialogue. Yet in all his interviews with the New York press, he claims this mosque is about promoting peace through religious dialogue. Imam Abdul Rauf, which is it, what you tell the Arabs or what you tell the Americans? On May 26, Imam Abdul Rauf said:
“Throughout my discussions with contemporary Muslim theologians, it is clear an Islamic state can be established in more than just a single form or mold. It can be established through a kingdom or a democracy. The important issue is to establish the general fundamentals of Sharia that are required to govern. It is known that there are sets of standards that are accepted by [Muslim] scholars to organize the relationships between government and the governed.”
When questioned about this, Abdul Rauf continued: “Current governments are unjust and do not follow Islamic laws.” He added:
“New laws were permitted after the death of Muhammad, so long of course that these laws do not contradict the Quran or the Deeds of Muhammad … so they create institutions that assure no conflicts with Sharia.”
An Islamic state sure does not sound like all that peace, brotherhood, and religious understanding he is telling the New York press corps and New York City officials. Which is it Imam Abdul Rauf, what you are telling naive Americans or what you are saying in Arabic, hoping the dumb Americans do not hear of your Arabic remarks?
This is more than just being offended that our taxes might help build a mosque. The Ground Zero mosque developers are devoted to creating a center which incubates terrorism right under our noses. Yes, that’s a serious charge. So it’s important to remember that Abdul Rauf, the proposed mosque’s Imam, is a proponent of Wahhabism, the extremist branch of Islam that created the 9/11 terrorists:
Saudi “Wahhabi” scholars feed the jihadist ideology, legitimizing an “extreme intolerance” toward non-Muslims, especially Jews, Christians and Hindus. In particular, the analysts noted that the “journey” of radicalization that produces homegrown jihadis often begins in a Wahhabi mosque. The term “Wahhabi” refers to the 18th century founder of this austere Islamic tradition, Muhammad bin Abdul al-Wahhab, who claimed inspiration from 14th century jurist Taqi al-Din Ahmad Ibn Taymiyyah.
At least two of Imam Rauf’s books, a 2000 treatise on Islamic law and his 2004 “What’s Right with Islam,” laud the implementation of sharia — including within America — and the “rejuvenating” Islamic religious spirit of Ibn Taymiyyah and al-Wahhab.
He also lionizes as two ostensible “modernists” Jamal al-Dinal-Afghani (d. 1897), and his student Muhammad Abduh (d. 1905). In fact, both defended the Wahhabis, praised the salutary influence of Ibn Taymiyyah and promoted the pretense that sharia — despite its permanent advocacy of jihad and dehumanizing injunctions on non-Muslims and women — was somehow compatible with Western concepts of human rights, as in our own Bill of Rights.
In short, Feisal Rauf’s public image as a devotee of the “contemplative” Sufi school of Islam cannot change the fact that his writings directed at Muslims are full of praise for the most noxious and dangerous Muslim thinkers.
Besides, I’m quite certain Imam Rauf doesn’t really need the money; the Saudi investors who are quietly funding the project certainly aren’t hurting for cash. Requesting American taxpayers to fund a mosque which honors the jihadist tactics and Islamic supremacist philosophy of the 9/11 terrorists is just another kind of Jizya (the tax which Muslims levy against their conquered non-Muslim subjects). It rubs salt in the wounds of every American, and then spits in our kafir faces just for good measure.

Not only NO, but hell NO!
There wouldn't be taxpayer funds made available to build a church.
That mosque should not be built at all.
