More civility and tolerance from the Left: When Whoopi Goldberg & Joy Behar encounter a viewpoint shared by an overwhelming majority of Americans, they threw a tantrum and stormed off like petulant children.
BILL O’REILLY: Let me break this to you. 70% of Americans don’t want that mosque down there, so don’t give me the “we” business.
[applause]
JOY BEHAR: Where is that poll? I want to see that poll.
O’REILLY: You want to bet on that? You wanna bet? I’ll show you that poll in a minute.
[crosstalk]
O’REILLY: 70% don’t want it down there.
WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Why is that?
O’REILLY: Because it’s inappropriate.
GOLDBERG: Why is it inappropriate when 70 families died…
O’REILLY: because Muslims killed us on 9/11, that’s why!
GOLDBERG: No! Oh my god! That is such [expletive deleted]!
O’REILLY: Muslims didn’t kill us on 9/11? That’s what you’re saying?
Goldberg: Extremists did that!
[crosstalk]
O’REILLY: I’m telling you, 70% of the country…
BEHAR: I don’t want to sit here. I don’t. I’m outraged by that statement.
O’REILLY: You’re outraged about Muslims killing us on 9/11?
[Behar and Goldberg walk off the set]
BARBARA WALTERS: I want to say something. I want to say something to all of you. You have just seen what should not happen. We should be able to have discussions without washing our hands and screaming and walking offstage. I love my colleagues. It should not have happened. Now, let me just say to you in a calmer voice. It was extremists. You cannot take a whole religion and demean them.
O’REILLY: I’m not demeaning anybody.
WALTERS: Yes, you are.
O’REILLY: No, I’m not.
[crosstalk]
O’REILLY: and if that’s what you think…
WALTERS: that’s what I think.
O’REILLY: Muslim extremists killed us.
[crosstalk]
O’REILLY: Here’s the issue. Here’s what has to be understood…
WALTERS: You should apologize.
SHERRI SHEPHERD: You’ve got to make a distinction, Bill.
O’REILLY: All right. If anybody felt that I was demeaning all Muslims, I apologize.

O’Reilly’s sin here is to say that 9/11 was perpetrated by Muslims rather than by Muslim extremists, an offense so egregious to Behar that her delicate conscience had to be removed from his presence. Funny thing: That same conscience never trembled when leftist moron Rosie O’Donnell dropped dark hints about 9/11 being an inside job on a regular basis on the show. In other words, fail to specify which view of Islam the hijackers held and Behar’s apt to need smelling salts; suggest that the attack wasn’t perpetrated by Muslims at all and … not a twitch. You’re a good liberal, Joy.

UPDATE: When Whoopi and Joy walked out in defense of Muslims, they must have missed out on the latest news for women, courtesy of the Religion of Peace — misogyny and beatings are an honor from Allah. And if that wasn’t good enough, rape is impossible within Muslim marriage. Must be the latest trend in dhimmi feminism.

UPDATE: Laura Ingraham points out Joy Behar’s blatant hypocrisy in walking off the set over a perceived generalization of Muslims, because Behar displays no such “sensitivity” when she routinely denigrates all Christians, Catholics, and homeschoolers.
O’Reilly makes another good point—when discussing the actions of Germany and Japan during World War II, we never have to make the distinction “German extremists” or “Japanese extremists.” The behavior is obviously extreme, and not necessarily reflective on every person of that particular heritage. Same goes for Muslims today.
Similarly, Jenn of the Jungle posted a clip of a rather agitated individual who points out that when discussing the oppression of blacks and American indians, nobody feels the need to clarify that it was “radical” whites who engaged in that reprehensible behavior. Most people are comfortable tarring all whites with that broad brush.
It would appear that Muslims are the only group that get this special “kid gloves” treatment.
