Two words about the "Rally to Restore Sanity"
It’s more than ironic that those who rally to restore so-called “sanity” were all too quick to engage in the very acrimony and partisanship they were supposedly gathering to denounce. I guess it’s appropriate that this gathering was put on by Comedy Central, because it turned out to be a joke. With a rich, creamy ribbon of fringey trutherism and hatred mixed in. condescending:
- Displaying a patronizingly superior attitude
- showing or implying condescension by stooping to the level of one’s inferiors, especially in a patronizing way
hypocrisy:
- a pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles, etc., that one does not really possess.
- a pretense of having some desirable or publicly approved attitude.
The words and behavior demonstrated in the above video clips are even more incongruous in light of what the rally’s organizer had to say in his closing speech:
“I can’t control what people think this was. I can only tell you my intentions. This was not a rally to ridicule people of faith or people of activism or to look down our noses at the heartland or passionate argument or to suggest that times are not difficult and that we have nothing to fear…If you want to know why I’m here and want I want from you, I can only assure you this: you have already given it to me. Your presence was what I wanted.
Sanity will always be and has always been in the eye of the beholder. To see you here today and the kind of people that you are has restored mine. Thank you.” ~Jon Stewart
Oh, the rally wasn’t about ridicule and vitriol? Silly me, I must have imagined all those references to “teabaggers” and Hitler.
Sanity: you keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

UPDATE: More “sanity” from the Left. Money quote at 1:15 — “What’s wrong with being a Communist?”
What’s wrong with being a Communist? Oh, not much. Just ask the 94 million citizens killed or starved to death by their own Communist governments since 1918.

One more thing, if not for Citizens united winning their lawsuit against the FEC, this could not have been sponsored by the Comedy Central folks and their corporation.
But, the moonbats sure hated that ruling when it was handed down.
