Steampunk Ghostbusters tribute

Posted 30 Jun 2010 in humor, pop culture

This is genius! Found on Boing Boing: It’s a commercial of sorts for a Victorian-themed ghost removal service known as League of STEAM (Supernatural and Troublesome Ectoplasmic Apparition Management). You gotta love the tinkly piano tribute to the 1984 film’s theme. I ain’t trepidatious of no specter.

Elena Kagan’s questionable views on the U.S. Constitution

Posted 29 Jun 2010 in Barack Obama, censorship, liberals, SCOTUS

*** scroll down for updates ***This was from Elena Kagan just last year, in her role as Solicitor General before the Supreme Court in Citizens United v. FEC, arguing for the defendant (the Federal Election Commission) in favor of governmental censorship of political speech. According to her, laws which suppress the First Amendment are acceptable because “there has never been an enforcement action for books.” This is what passes for Constitutional scholarship at Harvard? Just because our government has never rounded up books and burned them, let’s go ahead and approve of laws which would permit that kind of “enforcement action.” To Kagan’s way of thinking, the federal government should just be trusted that it won’t violate the Constitution,...

Goodbye, Senator Robert C. Byrd

Posted 28 Jun 2010 in Congress, Democrats, hypocrisy, racism

The mainstream media is all aflutter over the death of Senator Robert C. Byrd (D-WV), who has been a member of Congress since 1952. He was third in line of succession after Nancy Pelosi and known as the “King of Pork” for steering at least $5.5 billion in federal dollars to West Virginia for wasteful “public works” programs (more federal money than any of the other 49 states). My sympathies go out to the Byrd family, but I don’t regret the loss of this member of the Senate. He wasn’t the “hard-charging power broker” shown in MSNBC‘s sanitized eulogy, he was a reprehensible example of all that is wrong with our government. For the life of me, I cannot...

Hitler Reacts To The iPhone 4 Antenna Issues

Yes, yours truly is über-geek enough to have wasted 7 hours standing in line yesterday for a new iPhone 4. I think der Führer was about an hour ahead of me.

White House admits 51% of employer health plans won’t meet Obamacare guidelines

Posted 14 Jun 2010 in Barack Obama, Big Brother, healthcare, lies, Obamacare

So much for President Obama’s oft-repeated lie that people who like their current health care coverage would be able to keep it under Obamacare. I guess now that the legislation was forced through Congress and signed into law, there’s no longer any need for Democrat subterfuge. Via Investor’s Business Daily: Internal White House documents reveal that 51% of employers may have to relinquish their current health care coverage by 2013 due to ObamaCare. That numbers soars to 66% for small-business employers. The documents — product of a joint project of the Labor Department, the Health and Human Services Department and the IRS — examine the effects new regulations would have on existing, or “grandfathered,” employer-based health care plans. Even...

Democrat Congressman Bob Etheridge assaults student

Posted 14 Jun 2010 in Congress, Democrats, intolerance

*** Developing story, scroll down for updates *** Assault: An unlawful attempt, coupled with apparent ability, to commit a violent injury on the person of another; or An intentional, unlawful threat by word or act to do violence to the person of another, coupled with an apparent ability to do so, and doing some act which creates a well-founded fear in such other person that such violence is imminent. Democrat Congressman from North Carolina, Bob Etheridge, is seen here physically assaulting a student who had the audacity to ask him a question; “Do you fully support the Obama agenda?” This wrinkled thug is fortunate the young man didn’t take the opportunity to defend himself. Mike Flynn sees a possible...

Obama’s new stimulus package for terrorists

“An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.” ~Winston Churchill “Stupid is as stupid does.” ~Forrest Gump Do you remember last year when Secretary of State Clinton said that America would not work with any Palestinian unity government that includes Hamas if Hamas does not agree to recognize Israel? President Obama certainly seems to have forgotten that little tidbit. Despite unemployment around 10%, an economy hobbled by Democrat economic policies and the most massive environmental disaster in U.S. history, Chairman O is giving $400 million to the Hamas-led Palestinian government in Gaza. The United States will contribute $400 million in development aid to the Palestinian territories and work with Israel to loosen its...

Presidential "ass kick" balderdash

Posted 08 Jun 2010 in Barack Obama, disaster, Gulf oil spill, stupidity

49 days after the worst oil spill in American history, and this is the best he can do? “I don’t sit around just talking to experts because this is a college seminar, we talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answers, so I know whose ass to kick.” Yeah, never mind solutions. Let’s talk tough. That’ll clean up all the oil. This is exactly what I expected from our president: more empty rhetoric. And belated rhetoric, at that. All he’s doing now — aside from abasing the office of the presidency — is setting himself up for another huge power grab. And tax hikes to match. Sweetness & Light nailed it: Mr. Obama might not know...
