Anti-socialist roundup (i.e. swingin’ the cluebat)

There is so much stupidity happening on the Left lately, it’s making my head spin. And since I don’t have all day to blog about all of it, I’ll try to address the ones that are giving me a facial tic.

Obama administration apologizes to China for Arizona immigration law

deferencePosner said in addition to talks on freedom of religion and expression, labor rights and rule of law, officials also discussed Chinese complaints about problems with U.S. human rights, which have included crime, poverty, homelessness and racial discrimination.

He said U.S. officials did not whitewash the American record and in fact raised on its own a new immigration law in Arizona that requires police to ask about a person’s immigration status if there is suspicion the person is in the country illegally.

The United States was represented by officials from the State Department, White House, the departments of Commerce, Justice, Homeland Security, Labor, the trade representative’s office and the Internal Revenue Service. The Chinese side was led by Director General for International Organizations Chen Xu and included officials from nine agencies.

Cluebat: Arizona police enforcing federal immigration law by asking a person for proof of citizenship during a legal police stop is NOT even remotely on par with China’s systematic and widespread human rights violations. American law enforcement doesn’t even approach China’s forced abortions and sterilizations, infanticide resulting from their mandatory “one child per couple” policy, their suppression of religious freedom, censorship of the media and internet, “reeducation through labor” camps, or their violent reprisal against political dissent. Apologizing for a law (based upon existing federal law) passed by a sovereign American state makes you look weak and ineffective. And airing America’s dirty laundry to a communist nation for political purposes is especially contemptible.

Pelosi to Aspiring Musicians: Quit Your Job, Taxpayers Will Cover Your Health Care

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said this week that thanks to the new health-care reform law, musicians and other creative types could quit their jobs and focus on developing their talents because taxpayers would fund their health care coverage.

“We see it as an entrepreneurial bill,” Pelosi said, “a bill that says to someone, if you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever, you can leave your work, focus on your talent, your skill, your passion, your aspirations because you will have health care.”

Cluebat: Can “progressives” really be this stupid? Quitting one’s job just so one can be creative is NOT entrepreneurial. An entrepreneur is one who takes the initiative — and the risk — to creates a business. At best, Pelosi is dangling healthcare as a carrot in trade for Democrat votes. At worst, she’s encouraging further dependence on government — the exact OPPOSITE of entrepreneurship.

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews: Obama Needs to ‘Nationalize’ Oil Industry

On Monday’s Hardball a visibly angry Matthews demanded Obama go after BP: “Why doesn’t the President go in there, nationalize an industry and get the job done for the people?” and pointed out that in China they would have a much harsher response to BP: “They execute people for this. Major industrial leaders that commit crimes like this.”

Matthews even took aim at the entire capitalist system, as over video of the oil slick, he sarcastically mocked: “Everybody says ‘Capitalism is great. Unbridled free enterprise is great.’ Look at it! This is great, isn’t it?!”

Cluebat: Attention Captain Leg Tingle…despite the confusion in the Oval Office, this isn’t China. When a plane crashes, we don’t suspend all air travel. When an 18-wheeler overturns and spills toxins all over the place, we don’t outlaw all trucking and put private industry under government control. Just because there has been a highly suspicious disaster in the Gulf of Mexico is no excuse to suspend offshore oil drilling or for the United States to seize a privately-owned British oil company.

Danny Glover booed for not putting hand over his heart during flag ceremony

Utah State University’s 123rd commencement ceremony Saturday, featuring keynote speaker Danny Glover, will likely be remembered more for the actor’s controversy than his celebrity.

During the color guard presentation of the American flag, a spectator yelled across the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, “Put your hand above your heart, Glover!”

The five-time Emmy nominee told The Salt Lake Tribune after the ceremony that he doesn’t typically cover his heart during flag ceremonies and he meant no disrespect.

“I was listening to the national anthem and paying attention,” he said. “I probably wasn’t the only one in there who didn’t put a hand over their heart.”

Cluebat: When the color guard presents the American flag or the National Anthem is sung, it is proper for American citizens to show respect by placing their right hands over their hearts. Simply standing at attention when the American flag is presented is something non-citizens are expected to do. Even so, the crowd’s disapproval may also have something to do with the fact that you side with America’s enemies like socialist Venezuelan dictator President Hugo Chavez and espouse hebephrenic global warming dogma.

Speaking of dictators,
Woody Allen says “It would be good if Obama could be a dictator for a few years”

Woody Allen wants Barack Obama to be dictator for for a few years so that he can completely socialize America. The article published…May 15, 2010, did not make it into any English-language paper.
“I am pleased with Obama. I think he’s brilliant. The Republican Party should get out of his way and stop trying to hurt him. …it would be good…if he could be a dictator for a few years because he could do a lot of good things quickly.”

Cluebat: Hey Woody, nobody’s trying to “hurt” President Obama. Republicans are trying to prevent him from mutating America into a Third World cesspool of socialism. If you want to live under a Marxist dictator, Kim Jong-il, Evo Morales, Hugo Chávez, or Raúl Castro would love to have you. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Democrat Richard Blumenthal made misleading statements (LIED) about his Vietnam service

At a ceremony honoring veterans and senior citizens who sent presents to soldiers overseas, Attorney General Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut rose and spoke of an earlier time in his life.

“We have learned something important since the days that I served in Vietnam,” Mr. Blumenthal said to the group gathered in Norwalk in March 2008. “And you exemplify it. Whatever we think about the war, whatever we call it — Afghanistan or Iraq — we owe our military men and women unconditional support.”

There was one problem: Mr. Blumenthal, a Democrat now running for the United States Senate, never served in Vietnam. He obtained at least five military deferments from 1965 to 1970 and took repeated steps that enabled him to avoid going to war, according to records.

[W]hat is striking about Mr. Blumenthal’s record is the contrast between the many steps he took that allowed him to avoid Vietnam, and the misleading way he often speaks about that period of his life now, especially when he is speaking at veterans’ ceremonies or other patriotic events.

Cluebat: Whether you did or didn’t serve overseas, you don’t lie about it. Period. The fact that he’s tried to inflate his military record speaks volumes about his character. Blumenthal is no better than Chris Dodd, the corrupt Democrat (sorry for the redundancy) he’s hoping to replace.

Forget those pinheads, this is how it’s done. Less bowing, more balls…

Folks, I don’t know much about Dale Peterson yet, but judging by his campaign ad for Alabama Ag Commissioner, we’ll be hearing more from this gentleman.
