In honor of our fallen soldiers, Memorial Day 2010

Posted 31 May 2010 in military, patriotism, victory

It’s often said, but we rarely stop to reflect on the words that carry so much weight: freedom is not free. Please take a moment from your celebration today, put your hand over your heart and whisper a prayer of thanks for the men and women who fought and gave their lives for America’s freedom. Better yet, attend a parade or memorial service to honor our fallen countrymen. Thank God for those who stand in our place. And thank God for General John A. Logan, commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, who instituted Memorial Day (originally called Decoration Day) so that we would not forget those who gave all. General Order No. 11 Headquarters, Grand Army of...

Congress violates its "Pay-Go" rule by nearly $1 Trillion

Posted 27 May 2010 in Congress, Democrats, Nancy Pelosi, outrage

Since BP’s “Top Kill” method seems to have worked to stop the gushing of oil into the Gulf, perhaps it’s time to start pumping mud and cement into Congress. Via The Heritage Foundation: On February 4, 2010, pushing for passage of her pay-as-you-go (PAYGO) legislation, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said on the House floor: “When I became Speaker of the House, the very first day we passed legislation that made PAYGO the rule of the House. Today we will make it the law of the land. … So the time is long overdue for this to be taken for granted. The federal government will pay as it goes.” That was the promise. But here is the reality: in...

Blogroll roundup

Posted 26 May 2010 in blogrolling, Ground Zero mosque

While I’ve been too busy to blog this week, there’s no shortage of current events upon which to comment. And no shortage of smart folks swingin’ the cluebat. Here are a few of my faves, go show ‘em some love! Jihad Watch has details from the Community Board hearing to discuss the proposed thirteen-story mosque to be built at Ground Zero. Gateway Pundit documents how Mexico’s President Calderon is dictating the rules for the 1,200 National Guard troops President Obama has sent to the US/Mexico border. Hot Air has the scoop on President Obama’s feckless photo-op on the Gulf Coast. Knottie wrote a letter to our Vacationer-In-Chief regarding his Memorial Day plans to avoid Arlington National Cemetary. Tabitha Hale...

Mexican pirates terrorize boaters on Texas lake

Posted 23 May 2010 in illegal immigration, outrage

This sounds to me like a perfect training opportunity for US Army Snipers. With machine-guns in hand, Mexico’s deadliest cartel is patrolling the waters of a Texas border lake. These pirates have already ambushed three, possibly four boats, operating with virtual impunity as they make off with cash and electronics. It’s happening on Falcon Lake in Zapata, 200 yards from the Mexican border.

Congressman Tom McClintock responds to Mexican President Felipe Calderón

Posted 21 May 2010 in illegal immigration, Republicans

I have been disgusted to see the spectacle unfolding over the past couple days, with President Obama and Democrats in Congress siding against the American people with Mexican President Felipe Calderón’s hypocritical denunciation of American law. Clearly, these so-called representatives have forgotten their purpose, their nationality, and their loyalty. Luckily, not everyone in Washington is so two-faced. Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA) spoke from the floor of the House of Representatives in response to the Left’s perfidy. “I rise to take strong exception to the speech of the President of Mexico while in this chamber today. The Mexican government has made it very clear for many years that it holds American sovereignty in contempt and President Calderon’s behavior as a...

Happy "Everyone Draw Muhammad Day"

***Scroll down for fatwas, er, updates*** On behalf of Kurt Westergaard, Lars Vilks, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and anyone else who’s ever dared draw a picture of Muhammad, today is “Everyone Draw Muhammad Day.” Via Zombie: So you can see the urge of every sane-minded Westerner to say a hearty Fuck you! to anyone who tries to erode away the bedrock of our free society. The more insistent (and violent) these attempts at erosion, the less civil the resistance will become. Which is exactly as it should be. If the Islamists want us to to stop mocking (or even questioning) Mohammed, they can achieve this goal quite simply: Just go away and leave us alone. Don’t bother us,...

Calderon and Obama attack Arizona immigration law

***Scroll down for updates*** Arizona’s 10-page illegal immigration law must be written in Klingon, because nobody in the Obama administration seems to be capable of reading it. Yet that hasn’t stopped them from making outlandish accusations that the law somehow promotes racism, despite the fact that the law specifically forbids racial profiling. Mexican President Felipe Calderon must not have read it, either, because he stood on American soil and denigrated the notion that we have the right to enforce our immigration laws. President Obama and Mexican President Felipe Calderon joined hands Wednesday in blasting Arizona’s controversial immigration law, with Obama calling the legislation a “misdirected effort” after Calderon slammed it as discriminatory. Obama, speaking next to Calderon during Wednesday’s...

Obama: Daniel Pearl beheading "captured the world’s imagination"

Posted 18 May 2010 in Barack Obama, jihadists, outrage, stupidity, terrorism

Yesterday while signing into law The Daniel Pearl Freedom of Press Act, President Obama spoke sans teleprompter and uttered one of the worst gaffes I’ve ever heard. “Obviously, the loss of Daniel Pearl was one of those moments that captured the world’s imagination because it reminded us of how valuable a free press is.” Khalid Sheikh Mohammed didn’t decapitate Daniel Pearl to silence him as a journalist. He proudly confessed to a U.S. military tribunal that he cut off Pearl’s head because he was an American and a Jew. “I decapitated with my blessed right hand the head of the American Jew, Daniel Pearl, in the city of Karachi, Pakistan…For those who would like to confirm, there...

Anti-socialist roundup (i.e. swingin’ the cluebat)

There is so much stupidity happening on the Left lately, it’s making my head spin. And since I don’t have all day to blog about all of it, I’ll try to address the ones that are giving me a facial tic. Obama administration apologizes to China for Arizona immigration law Posner said in addition to talks on freedom of religion and expression, labor rights and rule of law, officials also discussed Chinese complaints about problems with U.S. human rights, which have included crime, poverty, homelessness and racial discrimination. He said U.S. officials did not whitewash the American record and in fact raised on its own a new immigration law in Arizona that requires police to ask about a person’s...

The new "courageous restraint" medal?

A “courageous restraint” medal? Are they freakin’ kidding? What next? A medal for “bold & swift retreat”? Somebody cue Sir Robin’s minstrels. *sigh* Incorporating such doublethink stupidity into the U.S. military WILL result in more dead American soldiers. FORWARD OPERATING BASE RAMROD, Afghanistan — NATO commanders are weighing a new way to reduce civilian casualties in Afghanistan: recognizing troops for “courageous restraint” if they avoid using force that could endanger innocent lives. The concept comes as the coalition continues to struggle with the problem of civilian casualties despite repeated warnings from the top NATO commander, U.S. Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal, that the war effort hinges on the ability to protect the population and win support away from the Taliban....
