Some Christmas gift ideas for Congress
Unfortunately, I’ve been way too busy lately to blog. And it’s been very frustrating for me because the healthcare takeover currently being concocted by the Democrats is the most draconian, heavy-handed usurpation of liberty I’ve seen in my lifetime.
Since Congressional Democrats insist on foisting upon America a hugely unwanted “gift” of government-run healthcare, and since they are rushing to vote on it in clear defiance of the expressed will of the vast majority of their constituents, I’d like to recommend a few gifts we could send them in return as tokens our esteem. At least until they come home and we can (peacefully) confront them the way we did over the summer at numerous “Town Hall Meetings”.
Purchase a bookmark and a copy of Complete Stories and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe. Place the bookmark at the beginning of the short story “The System of Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether” wherein the staff of an 1800s insane asylum gets tarred and feathered by their patients.
If subtlety isn’t your thing, you could send them a print of the 1790′s illustration Protestors Tar and Feather a Tax Collector during the Whiskey Rebellion in Pennsylvania to remind them that their “historic” health reform legislation deserves an equally “historic” response.
Or just send a sweatshirt whose message is unmistakable:
Dear Congress: we’ve called you, we’ve written you, we’ve let you know what we think of the ridiculous legislation you’ve drafted behind closed doors and refuse to read. So come on home and let’s have a nice little chat…
