Global warming fraud exposed
The debate isn’t over. Hell, it’s just getting started! Ed Morrissey’s got all the details on this bombshell over at Hot Air.
Controversy has exploded onto the Internet after a major global-warming advocacy center in the UK had its e-mail system hacked and the data published on line. The director of the University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit confirmed that the e-mails are genuine — and Australian publication Investigate and the Australian Herald-Sun report that those e-mails expose a conspiracy to hide detrimental information from the public that argues against global warming…One of the most damning e-mails published comes from Dr. Jones himself. In an e-mail from almost exactly ten years ago, Jones appears to discuss a method of overlaying data of temperature declines with repetitive, false data of higher temperatures.
Aside from the obvious criminality of hacking into an email system and publishing the contents, there’s plenty of global warming trickery to chew on, so go read the whole thing »
So much for the much-vaunted “peer reviewed” status of global warming’s published theories, especially if the peers in question are engaged in blatant fraud together. If this information is true, it shows a pathetic conspiracy by scientists pushing an agenda of man-made global warming to cover up “inconvenient truths” that contradict their beliefs.
As a friend of mine likes to say, “in science, we test our theories before we believe them.” To do so otherwise makes it faith. And that’s just what many of us skeptics have been saying for years about anthropogenic global warming; at best it’s junk science, and at worst it’s a loony quasi-religion.
These emails seem to indicate it’s both (and that also explains why otherwise rational people get so bent out of shape when someone questions the theory of anthropogenic global warming). To date, I have yet to see compelling, credible evidence that mankind is responsible any of the Earth’s warming or cooling trends. And when garbage like this becomes public, it further proves why I remain unconvinced.

UPDATE: Since we’re on the subject of global warming fraud, how about we touch on Al Gore’s ridiculous assertion this week that the Earth’s core is “several million degrees.” In rebuttal, I don’t even need to go to one of Dr. Jones’ peers in the scientific community, I’ll just share a bit of common sense from John Derbyshire: (h/t: Crush Liberalism)
The geothermal gradient is usually quoted as 25–50 degrees Celsius per mile of depth in normal terrain (not, e.g., in the crater of Kilauea). Two kilometers down, therefore, (that’s a mile and a quarter if you’re not as science-y as Al) you’ll have an average gain of 30–60 degrees — exploitable for things like home heating, though not hot enough to make a nice pot of tea. The temperature at the earth’s core, 4,000 miles down, is usually quoted as 5,000 degrees Celsius, though these guys claim it’s much less, while some contrarian geophysicists have posted claims up to 9,000 degrees. The temperature at the surface of the Sun is around 6,000 degrees Celsius, while at the center, where nuclear fusion is going on bigtime, things get up over 10 million degrees. If the temperature anywhere inside the earth was “several million degrees,” we’d be a star.
(Hint: that little tidbit is readily available in any basic astronomy or geology textbook…a fact that obviously eluded the former Vice President.)
Somebody remind me how Al Gore managed to receive a Nobel Prize? Oh yeah, it’s the same organization that just bestowed the same “honor” on President Obama for getting elected.
