Harry Reid admits government-run healthcare will cost $2 TRILLION.
I love it when politicians get caught in their lies.
In the process of dismissing the idea of tort reform and the massive savings that could be realized by including it in pending healthcare legislation, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) inadvertently admits the actual cost of the Baucus plan isn’t $829 billion, it’s $2 trillion.
“He talked about CBO saying that there would be $54 billion saved each year if we put caps on medical malpractice and put some restrictions — tort reform — $54 billion. Sounds like a lot of money, doesnt it, Mr. President? The answer is yes. But remember, we’re talking about $2 trillion, $54 billion compared to $2 trillion. You can do the math. We can all do the math. Its a very small percent.”
Why not save the $2 trillion dollars right now by scrapping this whole thing? Expand Medicare to cover the uninsured (Is it still 47 million this week? Democrats keep changing the numbers in every speech). Allow refundable tax credits for average Americans to purchase their own insurance. And allow families and businesses to purchase insurance across state lines.
Plus, we’d save a significant amount of money if we got rid of insufferable jackasses like Harry Reid who keep proposing the expansion of our already bloated federal bureaucracy.
