Obama’s Green Jobs Czar links himself to "Global Struggle Against the US"

More of President Obama’s “judgment to lead,” as evidenced by his choice for his “Green Jobs Czar.” Via Free Republic:

Van Jones, Barack Obama’s Green Jobs Czar, produced a record album entitled “WarTimes: Reports from the Opposition” a few years ago that was narrated by convicted cop killer Mumia Abu Jamal and featured a clip of an interview Jones did where he slammed the United States and Israel and proclaimed his stand with a “global struggle” against the United States.

Jones used his Ella Baker Center for Human Rights to found Freedom Fighter Music, the label WarTimes appeared on. WarTimes is also the name of an anti-war-on-al-Qaeda propaganda newspaper Jones helped organize.

The album was unearthed by the website Verum Serum, which posted a YouTube video with highlights of the album.

About three minutes forty-five seconds in to the highlight video, there is a brief interview with Van Jones at an anti-Israel demonstration where Jones criticizes Israel and calls for Palestinian ‘right of return’ then unloads on the United States:

“We see violence against poor people and poor people of color within the U.S. border, at the U.S. border, and beyond the U.S. border and you see U.S. tax dollars funding all of it. And so we have this now global struggle against the U.S. led security apparatus and military agenda that impacts people here and impacts people around the world and I think that we need to see our problems as linked.”

Mumia closes out the album by describing it as a “small tease of the truth about U.S. imperialism’s war on the world.”

The time frame of the album is hard to gauge, but Verum Serum writes that Freedom Fighter Music existed from around 2002-2003 to 2005-2006 and produced maybe two or three albums. The album appears to be from late 2002 or early 2003.

Jones mentioned the label in an interview with USA Today’s USA Weekend magazine published February 9, 2003

If one desires to align themselves against the United States, why not simply side with al Qaeda terrorists? That’s precisely what Van Jones did back in 1998.

VanJones_1998Hundreds of protesters turned out yesterday at simultaneous demonstrations in four Bay Area cities against the U.S. missile strike at reported terrorist bases in Sudan and Afghanistan.

Each demonstration had its own character, reflecting the city in which it was held, but all included a large dose of cynicism about President Clinton’s motives for ordering the cruise missile attacks at a reputed chemical weapons manufacturing facility in Sudan and what was described as a terrorist training camp in Afghanistan.

“This is using dead Third World bodies to cover up his own unzipped pants,” declared Van Jones, director of Bay Area PoliceWatch, an organization that until now has focused on alleged misconduct by law enforcement officers. Jones spoke at a demonstration at Powell and Market streets in San Francisco that drew 400 people, according to police estimates.

The theme that Clinton took military action to distract public attention from the Monica Lewinsky affair was highlighted in a protester’s sign in Palo Alto that read, “Don’t let a wartime incursion be Clinton’s diversion.”

In San Francisco, the rally had a left-wing flavor with speakers praising socialism and Cuba, in addition to criticizing U.S. defense policy.

There was scant mention in any of the demonstrations about the events that precipitated Clinton’s action: the terrorist bombs that exploded at the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania on August 7 that killed 251 Africans and 12 Americans.

Surely in the vetting process, President Obama must have missed this little tidbit, wherein Van Jones directly aligns himself with communists at the 2005 Founding Conference of The Network of Spiritual Progressives, defending communism as “soulful activism”:

“There is a great convergence that’s happening. It’s very positive. It’s very hopeful. It’s very miraculous. You see it. You are some of it. All the hard core political activists, all the Marxists, and Anarchists, and the Anarcho-Syndicalists, and the Marxists-Leninists-Maoists, and the Marxists-Leninists-Trotskyists, and the Social Democrats, and the Left Social Democrats, and the Left-Left Social Democrats…on the other side are all the spiritual people…I’ve got to get active! I’ve got to do something! I’ve got to put feet up under these prayers. There’s something happening. And in that convergence of spiritual people becoming active, and active people becoming spiritual, that the hope of humanity now rests.”

Yep, according to Van Jones, communism is the hope of humanity. And isn’t it ironic that he, too, uses the word hope to dupe people into following his intellectually bankrupt philosophy?

Jones has had quite a history with communism, also endorsing a Maoist group’s anti-police day:

Jones, the controversial Green Jobs Czar in the Obama administration endorsed an anti-police day of action initiated by a Maoist communist cult group, the Revolutionary Communist Party, in 2006.

The statement for the action is entitled, “Call for Oct. 22, 2006: Eleventh Annual National Day of Protest to Stop Police Brutality, Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation”, and states in part:

Why isn’t the escalation of police brutality and murder in recent years headline news? Perhaps because these images don’t comply well with the need to project images of police as “defenders against terrorism.” Since September 11, 2001, law enforcement agents (including border patrols) have been given greater license to increase and broaden repression. Steps were even taken to grant more worth to a police officer’s life, with the “heroes law” enacted in New York State, for which the governor originally called for a death sentence for anyone who shoots a cop. At the same time, the cop who killed African immigrant Ousmane Zongo in New York, after a rare conviction (criminally negligent homicide) was sentenced with probation and community service. Torture, brutality, detentions, domestic spying, profiling, and other attacks on human and civil liberties have been made part of the routine of daily life that we are asked to accept without question. At airports, subways, transportation centers, and more we are asked to “welcome” bag searches, check points, invasion of privacy, stripping away of civil liberties, all in the name of “national security.”

Jones’ name on the list of endorsers is between two radical anti-Israel groups:

    • ISO (International Socialist Organization), San Francisco

  • Van Jones and the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights

  • Justice4Palestinians

Other endorsers are communist groups like Code Pink, ANSWER, the Party for Socialism and Liberation, an SEIU local as well as various anti-American leftists including terrorist supporter attorney Lynne Stewart.

It’s worth noting that as a “czar,” Jones didn’t have to go through Senate confirmation. Obama just appointed him, believing he’s qualified to be in charge of possible “Cap and Trade” legislation.

Of course, no left-wing nutjob would be complete without buying in to the unhinged “truther” conspiracy theory that President George W. Bush was behind the 9/11 attacks.

Mr. Jones signed a statement for 911Truth.org in 2004 demanding an investigation into what the Bush Administration may have done that “deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen, perhaps as a pretext for war.”

His name is listed with 99 other prominent signatories supporting such an investigation on the 911Truth.org website, including Code Pink co-founders Medea Benjamin and Jodi Evans, comedienne Janeane Garofalo, Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney of Georgia and others. He’s identified as the executive director for the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights on the statement, which he founded before going to the White House.

obama van jonesLemme guess, this is not the man President Obama thought he knew? Will he say of Jones as he said of his pastor Jeremiah Wright, “I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community”? After all, Jones certainly fits in with Obama’s questionable past & associates.

You’re doing a heckuva job, Barry!
