Bill flushes Hill’s campaign down the crapper
Hillary Clinton has got to be fed up with Bill. The former Philanderer-In-Chief’s angry outbursts and finger wagging have helped her campaign about as well as they convinced America that he “never had sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.” And his pathetic attempt to make the South Carolina primary into a race issue with Barack Obama has now blown up in their faces, to the tune of a 28-point loss.
Clinton advisor Linda Fowler nails one of the big reasons why Bill’s campaigning for Hillary has proven toxic:
“Voters don’t like the idea of a co-presidency, and he became so high profile that he made people begin to see this as a possible co-presidency,” Ms. Fowler said. “It’s even more problematic because she’s a woman. It looks like she either needs him to fight the big battles for her, or she can’t keep the big dog on the porch.”
Sadly, Hillary’s political version of “Battered Woman Syndrome” was in full display this weekend.
Clinton was asked on CBS television’s “Face the Nation” whether her husband was “out of control” after he took the Illinois senator, and the media to task, during a foul-tempered week-long campaign.”You know, my husband has such a great commitment to me and to my campaign,” the New York senator said.“He loves me just like, you know, husbands and wives get out there and work on each others’ behalf.” [Um, 'scuse me? Husbandly love and commitment, from Bill Clinton? BWAHAHAHA! - ed.]
She blamed the tensions of the tight battle for the party’s presidential nomination
“Maybe he got a little carried away. You know, that comes with a hard-fought election,” she said.
“It also comes with sleep deprivation which, you know, I think is marking all of us, our families, our supporters,” said Clinton, who herself is running low on sleep, as she jets back-and-forth across the country.
Tired. What an apt description of the Clintons.
