Why do liberals mandate insanity?

What is it that liberals are drinking lately, aside from Al Gore’s global warming Kool-Aid?

Whether it’s Sheryl Crow telling us we have to use one square of toilet paper to wipe our asses, or Cate Blanchett telling us we should be drinking our own urine in order to save the planet, or Congress dictating what kind of light bulbs we should be allowed to buy, or lefties wanting to outlaw SUVs, the far left in this country just seem to be going further and further off the deep end.

Of course, all this “green” insanity pales in comparison to Senators Harry Reid and Dick Durbin’s continual efforts to ram open-borders amnesty schemes down our throats (despite the huge public outcry against it), John Edwards’ proposal for government-mandated doctor visits and Hillary’s repackaged socialist healthcare, where people would have to provide proof of insurance before being allowed to hold a job! As crazy as the environmentalists are, these Marxists will be looking to raise taxes in order to pay for the trillions their scatterbrained fascism would require.

It’s not enough to be inside our heads via political correctness, or inside our wallets via confiscatory tax rates, they want to control every aspect of our lives. For all the screeching I’ve heard from the left about President Bush supposedly curtailing their freedom by spying on terrorists who are hiding in our country, it’s a little surprising to see these same people clamoring to have their freedom of choice taken away. But seeing as how the Democrats’ proposals entail penalizing achievers in favor of spreading poverty (and rewarding illegal immigrants with additional incentive to invade our country), it’s not entirely beyond belief.
