Getting caught up
I’m blogging during lunch at my new freelance gig, so things have to be Readers’ Digest-style for today. Here’s the roundup.
Paris Hilton: Glad to hear she’s back in jail. Appalled to hear her claim to be reformed already. She found religion? Sure. And Al Sharpton seized this opportunity to shoot off his big mouth, claiming that she was treated differently because she was rich and white, as though blacks can’t get the same kind of leniency. Anybody wanna remind him about O.J.? It’s not about color, you blithering idiot, it’s about money and the corresponding privilege it unfortunately entails.
Congress’ approval ratings: Now that Pelosi, Reid, and the rest of their Democrat ilk have dragged Congress’ public approval to new lows, can we say that there is a new mandate to have them removed, just like they claimed about President Bush’s abysmal numbers?
Immigration “reform” bill: I was ecstatic to read in the newspaper last week that Harry Reid had threatened to pull the bill. To me, that puts it in Br’er Rabbit’s briar patch. “Oh, no! Don’t pull that amnesty bill! Whatever you do, don’t do that!” And I’m even happier to see that President Bush likely won’t be able to resuscitate it. It’s as toxic for our nation as Hillary’s healthcare plan. And as equally despised.
How about you pathetic assclowns in Congress enforce the laws we already have regarding illegal immigrants? Deport them whenever we find them. Allow police to work with ICE. Severely punish employers who knowingly hire illegal workers. When illegals are found, charge them for their criminal behavior and put it on their permanent record, as would happen to any regular American citizen caught breaking the law. And concentrate on building a fence along the porous areas of our borders.
At the very least, if you’re gonna pass new laws, consider cutting spending in order to pay for it first, and then use the money to increase the number of border guards as well as bolster the funds for enforcement (from arrest through prosecution and deportation).
Not that I have an opinion about it, though.
Ok, gotta get back to work. More later.
