An open letter to…
President George W. Bush
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell
Sen. Lindsey Graham
Sen. Trent Lott
Sen. John McCain
Sen. Mel Martinez
Dear sirs,
How dare you.
It’s bad enough that you look the other way as millions of illegal immigrants flood our cities and overburden our schools, hospitals, and economy.
It’s even worse that you put forward a steaming pile of amnesty legislation intended to appear as though you’re concerned about the impact of illegal immigration on this great nation, a bill with all the effectiveness of a Band-Aid on a severed limb.
But now, you take to the airwaves to excoriate those Americans who see through the smoke and mirrors of your ludicrous proposals. We know the details of this pablum, yet you label those who speak out against you as “problems” to be “dealt with”, as though you have any right to silence the voters’ outcry against your traitorous actions.
Stop with the ridiculous posturing and harumphing. ENFORCE THE LAWS WE ALREADY HAVE before you dare to ask us for 4.4 BILLION DOLLARS to fund new laws you know you’ll never enforce.
It’s disgusting enough that the Republican party has been asleep at the wheel when it comes to illegal immigration. But it turns my stomach to watch as you get in bed with the likes of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senator Ted Kennedy as you attempt to transmogrify 20 million lawbreakers into legal voters.
Where’s your plan to enforce existing immigration laws? And where’s the proof that you’ll follow through?
Where’s your plan to bolster resources to clear the backlogs of unprocessed paperwork? And where’s the progress?
The FBI name check backlog is currently at nearly 330,000 cases. Will those be handled before you begin rubber-stamping all the “Z” visas?
Fix the current problems before you go lobbing measures that poke a stick in the eye of every taxpaying American as well as every person who’s come here legally, paid their fees, gotten in line, and tried to join our great “melting pot.”
The problem that needs to be “dealt with” is the horde of greedy employers who subsidize this national security fiasco, the selfish illegals who think themselves above the law, and the useful idiots pushing legislation which rewards them all.
Deal with all that first. And build the fence you promised. Safeguard our borders by enforcing our existing laws and clearing the current backlogs. Then come back to the American public with your hands out for $4.4 billion dollars in additional funding.
Until you do, I invite you all to kiss the collective asses of every taxpaying American citizen.
Because we’re tired of kissing yours.
