Religion of Peace update: Picadilly car bomb

More peace and tolerance from Islam’s jihadis. Thank goodness London’s finest were able to avert this most recent attempt at Muslim evangelism. LONDON (AP) – Police thwarted an apparent terror attack Friday near the famed Piccadilly Circus in the heart of London, defusing a bomb made of a lethal mix of gasoline, propane gas, and nails after an ambulance crew spotted smoke coming from a silver Mercedes outside a nightclub. The bomb in the city’s theater district was powerful enough to have caused “significant injury or loss of life” – possibly killing hundreds, British anti-terror police chief Peter Clarke said. Britain’s new home secretary, Jacqui Smith called an emergency meeting of top officials, calling the attempted attack “international terrorism.”...

Lessons on immingrant amnesty

Posted 29 Jun 2007 in illegal immigration

Instapundit has wise words for politicians who want to continue the immigraton debate. My advice for next time: (1) Make the process open, transparent, and timely, with hearings, drafts on the Internet, and no last-minute bills that no one has read; (2) Earn people’s trust, don’t demand it, and treat enforcement like it matters; (3) Respect people who follow the law, and make legal immigration easier, cheaper, and simpler, rather than the Kafkaesque nightmare it is now; (4) Don’t feel you have to be “comprehensive” — address the problems you can deal with first. The trust needed to deal with other problems will come later, after you’ve shown some success and some good faith. And Jonathan at Crush Liberalism...

Ding, dong, amnesty is dead!

Posted 28 Jun 2007 in illegal immigration

Over 80% of Americans have been against this sham from the start, and the U.S. Senate has finally been forced to listen to their constituents due to the uproar of the past week. It looks like the amnesty bill which would have instantly legalized millions of illegal immigrants is finally dead. A defiant group of senators refused to continue down the path of a widely unpopular immigration reform bill Thursday, putting up a roadblock on a procedural debate and squeezing out any time left to work on one of President Bush’s top domestic priorities. On the cloture vote — the test to end debate and move to passage — the Senate voted 46-53 not to carry the motion. Sixty...

Video: Laura Ingraham immigration smackdown

Posted 27 Jun 2007 in illegal immigration

Last night, Alan Colmes has his lame zombie ass handed to him by Laura Ingraham, who gives a great summary of why this immigration “deal” is absolutely the wrong thing to do for America. After all the spin I’ve heard from President Bush, and especially after reading the content of the bill (HTML version here and PDF version here – and if you don’t have time to read it yourself, Captain Ed has outlined some of the major points of contention here) and seeing the gaping holes in security for our nation, I don’t see how anyone could be in favor of this tripe. Unless, of course, they’re in the pocket of big business, who loves the cheap labor....

A vote for cloture is a vote for amnesty

(video courtesy of Hot Air) Click over to Americans for Legal Immigration and get informed about this amnesty sham and today’s cloture vote which could enable it to happen. Then go sign Sen. Inhofe’s online petition against amnesty.

Muchas gracias, Sen. Graham

More liberal love for fascists

Posted 25 Jun 2007 in George W. Bush, illegal immigration, liberals

Nevermind that Hitler murdered over 6 million Jews. Ignore the fact that Mao Zedong exterminated over 70 million of his countrymen. Forget about how Joseph Stalin had 60 million people killed. At least they all meant well, right? George W. Bush, by contrast, is the worst president ever. That’s what the moonbats at the Huffington Post want you to believe. So now we’re six and a half years into Bush and everyone from Helen Thomas on down is declaring him the worst president ever. What no one is saying is the one overarching reason he’s the worst: the Bush administration is the first that doesn’t even mean well. With the possible exception of immigration reform — and who knows...

Democrat consistency

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi continues the Democrats’ pattern of hypocrisy. Via CNN: Despite promises, few in House make earmark requests public. Despite the new Democratic congressional leadership’s promise of “openness and transparency” in the budget process, a CNN survey of the House found it nearly impossible to get information on lawmakers’ pet projects. Staffers for only 31 of the 435 members of the House contacted by CNN between Wednesday and Friday of last week supplied a list of their earmark requests for fiscal year 2008, which begins on October 1, or pointed callers to Web sites where those earmark requests were posted. Of the remainder, 68 declined to provide CNN with a list, and 329 either didn’t respond to...

Post roundup

My best friend from high school has been here the past few days, so my blogging is a bit light right now. But there’s no shortage of worthwhile topics and posts going on elsewhere. Journalists’ liberal bias is revealed (yet again) in their political contributions. Why appeasement is always a mistake. American confidence in Congress is at historic low of 14%. Liberals trying to silence conservative talk radio (yet again). Ah, the tolerance. Republicans block Democrat attempts to raise gas prices.

Another way to support our troops

Posted 19 Jun 2007 in military, victory, war

Support our troops. Many of us say it. We see bumper stickers everywhere that say the same. But how many of us go beyond that to actually do something positive for the brave women and men who serve in our armed forces? Regular commenter (and blogger in her own right) Stephanie has a good post today with links to several different ways you can help show support for our U.S. soldiers. If you haven’t already found a way to give – or even if you did and are financially able to give more – I urge you to read today’s entry and get involved.
