VTech backlash continues

Posted 20 Apr 2007 in hypocrisy

Since being fired last week, I’ve tried to take it easy for this first week of unemployment. And I’d be online more, but I’ve been working to help traci get ready to move. So blogging’s been a bit light.

However…

My good friend (and frequent commenter), Tirya, had an AWESOME rant that she sent to our local TV station. I wanted to repost it because she says in her letter almost verbatim what I yelled at the television earlier this week – but she worded it much better than I could have.

Hypocritical much?

Tonight, CBS11 did a teaser that had the voiceover of “Coverage continues… with the growing backlash over the decision to release the disturbing images of the Virginia Tech gunman.”

And what’s on the screen? A disturbing image of the Virginia Tech gunman.

Can’t imagine why there’s so much backlash over the overhyped glorification coverage of the gunman that is being flung at the viewing public by media outlets such as CBS 11.

Here’s a challenge – name me even five people who died, and something about their lives. THEY are the ones who should be remembered. Not the gunman.

But as usual, “if it bleeds, it leads” and good taste takes a back seat to the almighty dollar.

You should be ashamed of yourselves.
