Hillary’s selective memory
I probably should retitle this post, as it could encompass far too many criminal acts committed by Senator Hillary Clinton dating back to her time in the White House as well as her Rose Law Firm days. But the newest tripe to spill from her mouth has my boxers in a bunch.
Apparently, she thinks it was normal when her husband, President Bill Clinton, had Attorney General Janet Reno fire ALL 93 US ATTORNEYS in one fell swoop! And she has the unmitigated temerity to suggest that Gozalez’ actions are politically motivated when he fires eight for shoddy performance.
“There is a great difference,” Clinton said. “When a new president comes in, a new president gets to clean house. It’s not done on a case-by-case basis where you didn’t do what some senator or member of Congress told you to do in terms of investigations into your opponents. It is ‘Let’s start afresh’ and every president has done that.”
Um, no. Actually, no President before or since has ever fired all 93 U.S. attorneys at once. Clinton did it to politically stack the deck in his favor (and stymie investigations into BOTH Clintons’ Arkansas corruption). Here, a few attorneys are being removed for not carrying out the Bush administration’s policies on immigration, firearms, and other issues. Which is absolutely legal and proper.
News flash: the US attorney are “at will” employees who operate at the pleasure of the President. If they’re not enacting administration policy, he is completely within the President’s Constitutional powers to remove them. The Bush administration is doing the same thing the Clinton administration did, arguably however, in not such partisan fashion. But even if that were so, this so-called scandal is nothing more than more Democrat hypocrisy. And Hillary’s demagoguing with the phrase “the politicization of our prosecutorial system” is about as pot-meet-kettle as it gets.
8 > 93? Only if you’re a Democrat.

[...] It still disgusts me that Democrats continue to try to force their cowardly retreat plan on our soldiers. And have been trying like mad to make political hay out of the lawful firing of 8 US attorneys. [...]
