Another reason to love 300
Yeah, it’s “just a movie.” But I’m not the only one seeing the connection between the fictionalized armies of Xerxes and today’s Islamofascists.
Iranian official lashes out at Hollywood movie “300″ for insulting Persian civilizationAn Iranian official on Sunday lashed out at the Hollywood movie “300″ for insulting the Persian civilization, local Fars News Agency reported.
Javad Shamqadri, an art advisor to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, accused the new movie of being “part of a comprehensive U.S. psychological [sic] war aimed at Iranian culture“, said the report.
Shamqadri was quoted as saying “following the Islamic Revolution in Iran, Hollywood and cultural authorities in the U.S. initiated studies to figure out how to attack Iranian culture,” adding “certainly, the recent movie is a product of such studies.”
Someone call the wahh-mbulance, Muslims are offended. Again.
Apparently, this guy doesn’t realize how many on the far Left love anyone who despises America. Iran and militant Islamists have many allies among the Hollywood elite. There’s no comprehensive anything in 300, certainly nothing that’s been created to make Muslims look bad (the jihadists do a damn fine job of that themselves). Besides, this book was written before the cowardly attacks on 9/11. It’s simply a fortunate coincidence that this movie works as pro-American propaganda. The only reason this movie is so pro-freedom is due to Frank Miller’s personal views. If it weren’t for the fact that his Sin City movie was so wildly profitable, I doubt Hollywood would have agreed to make his new flick.
Isn’t it funny that a fictional movie involving the historic aggression of the Persian empire is an “insult” but Ahmadinejad actually threatening to destroy Israel is just dandy?
