Dunny!

Posted 28 Feb 2007 in art, personal

My addiction, er, collection so far. Ok, I’ll admit it. I’m addicted. Last year, I saw a little article in Wired magazine about vinyl toys and how they were the hot new thing. And after seeing some of the cool figures coming out of Japan and a few hot artists here in the states, I was intrigued. But when I saw some of these little guys in my local comic book store, I was hooked. They’re called Dunny, and they’re a line of artist-designed vinyl toys from Kid Robot. There are several different series of the collectible figures, each one specially designed and released in limited quantities (some are worth hundreds of dollars), sold in a blind box so...

Cheney survives attack, Left moans

This one is all over the news today. (h/t: color me purple.. of it) Cheney OK after Afghan blast; 23 killed BAGRAM, Afghanistan – A suicide bomber attacked the entrance to the main U.S. military base in Afghanistan on Tuesday during a visit by Vice President Dick Cheney, killing up to 23 people and wounding 20. Cheney was unhurt in the attack, which was claimed by the Taliban and was the closest that militants have come to a top U.S. official visiting Afghanistan. At least one U.S. soldier, an American contractor and a South Korean soldier were among the dead, NATO said. Cheney said the attackers were trying “to find ways to question the authority of the central government.”...

New drawing

I just finished the linework for a new tattoo idea. I still need to color it and put the patterns in the kimono, but I’m jazzed about getting the basics of the composition settled. I did a lot of research before putting pencil to paper and was happy to create something semi-traditional, yet essentially original (I didn’t copy any one piece). It’s a samurai wrestling with a demon, about to shove a dagger up through his chin. For me, it symbolizes my recent struggles with medical issues and my determination to persevere and overcome. I’m considering it as my next tattoo. It would go on my right forearm to completely sleeve out my right arm and would continue the...

Titanic offense

Posted 26 Feb 2007 in intolerance, Islam, jihadists

Remember how thousands of Muslims rioted over the “Mohammed cartoons,” burning businesses and killing dozens of innocent people over a perceived slight of their prophet? Well, today I’m wondering if Christians around the world will soon be torching cars and television stations as well as calling for the beheading of everyone responsible for the production of James Cameron’s new Discovery Channel “special”. New scientific evidence, including DNA analysis conducted at one of the world’s foremost molecular genetics laboratories, as well as studies by leading scholars, suggests a 2,000-year-old Jerusalem tomb could have once held the remains of Jesus of Nazareth and his family. The findings also suggest that Jesus and Mary Magdalene might have produced a son named Judah....

Shocker: Wonkette gets it backwards

Posted 23 Feb 2007 in Democrats, Iran, liberals, war

As usual, the Far Left’s signal-to-noise ratio is all mixed up. John Edwards Expresses Concern Over Israel-Iran War, Loses NominationWhat happened? According to Bart, Edwards was asked to name the greatest threat to world peace at the moment. Instead of the simple answer, wars, Edwards had to be a smarty jones and say the increasing likelihood of an Israeli attack on Iran was the primary current threat. You know, because then Washington would start bombing somebody, and Syria/Lebanon would get involved, and Russia would start threatening everybody, and it would be a nuclear war, etc. But stating anything so obvious requires taking your lips off Israel’s ass for a few seconds, and that’s fatal for any American...

Cheney tells it like it is, Pelosi cries

Posted 22 Feb 2007 in Democrats, liberals, Nancy Pelosi

This one’s driving me batty. I don’t know why it should, because the Democrats are acting precisely the way they always do: like whiny bitches. Wednesday, Vice Pres. Dick Cheney criticized the Pelosi/Murtha plan for defeat (you know, the one where they de-fund the military and pull out our troops, following the wishes of al-Qaeda). “I think if we were to do what Speaker Pelosi and Congressman Murtha are suggesting, all we will do is validate the al-Qaida strategy,” the vice president told ABC News. “The al-Qaida strategy is to break the will of the American people … try to persuade us to throw in the towel and come home, and then they win because we quit.” Pretty straightforward,...

Religion of Peace update: Islamic honor and tolerance

Just a few more tidbits from this week’s news. Can’t you just feel the love of Allah? Female Pakistani minister shot dead for “breaking Islamic dress code.” Iranian immigrant used 3-pound hammer to beat his wife, sister-in-law and mother-in-law to death for “disrespecting” him. Muslim cabbie runs over students after religious debate Islamic militants threaten barbers Suicide bomber disguised as health worker targets Afghan hospital.

Religion of Peace update: Father kills family

Another so-called “honor killing.” It’s really sad that Islam continues to breed this kind of monster on a regular basis. A father killed his wife and four daughters in their sleep because he could not bear them adopting a more westernised lifestyle, an inquest heard yesterday. Mohammed Riaz, 49, found it abhorrent that his eldest daughter wanted to be a fashion designer, and that she and her sisters were likely to reject the Muslim tradition of arranged marriages. On Hallowe’en last year he sprayed petrol throughout their terraced home in Accrington, Lancs, and set it alight. Caneze Riaz, 39, woke and tried to protect her three-year-old child, Hannah, who was sleeping with her, but was overcome by fumes. Her...

More Liberal disdain for our troops

Recently, William Arkin showed his ass by making some pretty outrageous comments against our American soldiers. I guess he drank some of the same anti-American Kool-Aid as June Scorza Terpstra. She’s a far Left professor teaching a so-called “social justice” class at Loyola University in Chicago. Here, she launches an intolerant tirade against students in her class that have chosen to serve their country in the U.S. military: The American military and mercenary soldiers who “sacrificed” their lives did not do so for the teacher’s freedom to teach the truth about the so-called war on terror, or any of US history for that matter. They sacrificed their lives, limbs and sanity for money, some education and the thrills of...
