Remember Pearl Harbor
It’s Pearl Harbor Day.
65 years ago today, Japanese aircraft bombed the US fleet in an unprovoked surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, killing 2,335 military and 68 civilians. It roused our nation and we finally entered WW2, kicking much ass and taking many names in the process. Would that our country had the same intestinal fortitude and sense of moral direction today.
After the attack, President Franklin Roosevelt spoke clearly the words which might well have been spoken just a few years ago. And they are just as sorely needed now as they were then.
Always will we remember the character of the onslaught against us.No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.
I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost, but will make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again.
Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory and our interests are in grave danger.
With confidence in our armed forces – with the unbounding determination of our people – we will gain the inevitable triumph – so help us God.

If nothing else, make sure you read today’s excellent column by Victor Davis Hanson, relating the Pearl Harbor attacks to today’s “Global War On Terror.” He says it WAY better than I can.
