Texas takes stand against illegal aliens

Here in Dallas, there’s a small suburb named Farmers Branch that has grown some cojones and taken a firm stand against illegal immigrants. City councilman Tim O’Hare has proposed cracking down on illegals with fines for businesses that hire them and landlords that lease to them, and to give police authority to enforce immigration laws (Imagine that! Cops being allowed to enforce the law!). Also, he wants to make English the official language. And, of course, LULAC and other misguided fools are out there opposing him. But the town of Farmers Branch stood firm against lawbreakers.

FARMERS BRANCH — Despite loud protests from scores of pro-immigrant demonstrators, the City Council adopted ordinances Monday night to crack down on illegal immigration and to make English the city’s official language.

Opponents of illegal immigration cheered when the council voted unanimously to pass ordinances that will:

Require city officials to conduct nearly all official business in English.

Prohibit landlords from renting apartments to people who cannot prove their citizenship or legal status.

Have city police enter into a cooperative agreement with federal immigration officials to target “criminal aliens.”

If our luck holds out, it seems our state legislature might be following suit.

AUSTIN – Texas lawmakers struck hard at illegal immigrants Monday, filing bills that would restrict birthright citizenship, bar them from getting state benefits such as health care and education, make it illegal for them to get business permits and tax them for sending money south of the border.

I’m irritated to see the newspaper’s obvious bias in the headline “Migrants Targeted in Flurry of Bills,” because there’s no beef with immigrants, just with those who are here illegally. You know, the ones who break the law to enter – and live in – America.

Frankly, I’m amazed that this can even be a topic of conversation. How can people be so arrogant as to demand that illegal aliens be given special privileges and tax money?

But then, this whole issue about what to do with the millions of illegal immigrants is getting beyond ridiculous. In Atlanta, we’ve got a high school principal who’s been fired because she threatened to call police and INS on a group of violent Hispanic students.

A Clayton County high school principal who told a group of Hispanic students they could face deportation if they caused trouble in school has agreed to step down at least through the end of the semester.

Principal Delphia Young of Forest Park High School had found herself at the center of controversy since she called the school’s Hispanic ninth- and 10th-graders to a meeting in the cafeteria earlier this month.

Students reported that Young accused some of them of being gang members responsible for recent off-campus fights and said she told them she would call police and immigration officials into the school the next time a Latino student caused a problem.

Young will be away from her job as principal at least until Dec. 21, said Charles White, a district spokesman. Assistant principal Sandra Lewis will serve as interim principal beginning Monday.

Young and district officials reached the agreement Friday, which calls for suspension time, specialized training and reassignment of duties, White said. District officials declined to provide more details on the agreement, calling it a “personnel matter.”

School superintendent Barbara Pulliam described Young as a proven academic leader and a solid professional who has a stellar record.

But why let that get in the way of illegal immigrants dictating law enforcement here in America?

Sounds to me like Young got tough, as she needed to, and said what would get the attention of the lawbreakers among them. She directly addressed the cause of the problem, and got smacked down for handling things in a strict, straightforward manner. Geez, what’s the problem? If the kids behave, there’s no trouble. If there is trouble, police and INS could handle the delinquents and solve the situation. As they should. The threat of official involvement was intended to quell the violence. How are our teachers and principals supposed to maintain order if they aren’t allowed to get the help they need in extreme situations?

This absolutely amazes me! We’ve got parents who got outraged that the principal spoke firmly to a small group of Hispanic males which has been terrorizing the school. What, are the parents outraged that their kids weren’t going to have the opportunity to beat up other students? Wow. Such muddle-headed thinking! Rather than saying to their kids, “Do what’s right! If you’re upset at what she said, then MAKE SURE YOU’RE NOT CAUSING FIGHTS AND YOU WON’T GET IN TROUBLE,” much better to call LULAC and act upset. Yeah, we sure as hell don’t want our school principals keeping order in our classrooms. Much better to hush them with political correctness and allow violence to run rampant. Nice going, Libs!

Why do some people have so much problem with the prospect of the laws of this country being enforced? Why are some people so keen on a certain group of people being allowed to ignore the rules?

While the rest of the country continues to pussyfoot around the issue, I’m glad to see my home state doing the right thing.
