More Democrat Lies: Stem Cell Research

Have you been watching the ridiculous antics from the Left over the past 24 hours regarding Rush Limbaugh’s comments about Michael J. Fox’s political ad? In it, Fox shills for Democrat candidates, misleading the public about stem cell research for the benefit of Democrat candidates. And there’s been a huge response, as would be expected, because Limbaugh came out and said that it looked like Fox was “either off his medication or acting” for dramatic effect in the ad.

Here’s the ad in question:

And here’s the response ad aired by opponents of Amendment 2:

Limbaugh stated that Fox himself has admitted to occasionally going off his medication when he wants to publicly drive home a point about the effects of Parkinson’s Disease. But whether Fox was on or off his meds in the commercial, it’s exploitative to use Fox’s affliction to create sympathy in an ad for political candidates.

So why the outrage about Limbaugh’s comments?

The Democrats are lying, as usual. And are attempting to use a victim (Fox) as an unassailable messenger. Typical Liberal demagoguery. And this hubub is typical misdirection.

Republicans aren’t against Stem Cell Research, per sé. They’re against FEDERAL funding for EMBRYONIC Stem Cell Research.

Beeg deefronce.

I just hope that all this attention helps to educate people about the difference between Adult Stem Cell Research (ASCR) and Embryonic Stem Cell Research (ESCR). The former is a kind of research that uses a wide variety of stem cells while the latter relies on tissue derived from destroying human embryos.

Rarely will you hear the distinction in the mainstream media.

Think that’s an oversight or coincidence?

It serves the purpose of Democrats to paint Republicans as being religious zealots who are opposed to science. And that’s just not true (for the most part, although there are nuts in both parties). The truth is that most people in both political parties are ignorant that there even IS a difference in stem cell research and believe that it all involves the destruction of the unborn.

The main dispute here is that ASCR doesn’t require aborted fetuses or cloning in order to proceed. While ESCR is fraught with those moral dilemnas.

There is NO evidence that Embryonic Stem Cell Research has potential to cure anything. In fact, research keeps showing the opposite is true. And as a friend of mine frequently says, “in science, we test our theories before we believe them.”

Of course, none of these facts matter to the Democrats, who seem intent on maintaining the current abortion industry at any cost. They want to keep the “right” to kill the unborn by linking the at-will destruction of babies to the specious hope for potential cures. And they seem unconcerned that studies using adult stem cells have been successful while ESCR tests continually prove disastrous.

Why do you think the Left wants to ignore the facts?

Yeah, I know, same reason as always. They don’t want to admit they’re on the wrong side of an issue. So rather than just be quiet about it, they raise their voices. And their ire. And if they can drum up sympathy in the general public, they hope to shame their opponents into silence.

Like they do on almost every issue.

Don’t be fooled, folks.

UPDATE: I found it. Sorta. Limbaugh had cited Fox’s own book, Lucky Man

“I did some research today, and I found his book that was published. It’s ‘Lucky Man,’ 2002, but he admits in the book that before Senate subcommittee on appropriations I think in 1999, September of 1999, he did not take his medication for the purposes of having the ravages and the horrors of Parkinson’s disease illustrated, which was what he has done in the commercials that are running for Claire McCaskill and Jim Talent….”

The actual quote from the book is here.

“I had made a deliberate choice to appear before the subcommittee without medication. It seemed to me that this occasion demanded that my testimony about the effects of the disease, and the urgency we as a community were feeling, be seen as well as heard. For people who had never observed me in this kind of shape, the transformation must have been startling.”

So, as much as it must make the mainstream press grind their teeth, Rush was right about this. Michael J. Fox has admitted he’s not above dramatizing his illness. But this isn’t the main issue. Whether Fox was on or off his meds, the big thing here is the obfuscation that goes on with the Stem Cell issue on behalf of the Democrats.
