Foley and Democrat hypocrisy
I’m disgusted over the recent Foley situation. The fact that a Congressman was flirting in Instant Messages with an underage page is despicable. And criminal. I’m glad he’s resigned (at least some people have enough character to admit when they’re wrong and accept accountability for their actions rather than stonewalling and obfuscating like certain Democrat ex-Presidents we know). He was completely wrong to carry on like that. I think he’s a creepy sicko. And I hope he’s prosecuted to the fullest extent allowed by law. But based on what we know so far Foley’s not necessarily a pedophile, as Liberals are trying to make him out to be (more about that in a good Jawa Report post here).
As sick as Foley’s behavior is, the Democrats’ posturing is nearly as twisted. It’s pretty coincidental timing that they’ve now pulled this out to make a big political splash before next month’s elections. Two newspapers had information on Foley’s emails but sat on the story since 2005. And the Dems apparently knew, as well. Dick Morris has already said, “one very prominent member of the Democratic leadership knew about this for months.” (video here)
Obstruction of justice, anyone?
Clinton called it “a conservative hit job” when Chris Wallace simply asked him a difficult question. But this, I think, could more correctly be termed a “liberal hit job.” A scandal which was sat upon until it was politically expedient to reveal.
(And, coincidentally, the same kind of scandal caused by Democrat Congressman Gerry Studds, except he actually DID have sex with an underage page… and was returned to office by his faithful Democrat constituents afterwards. In FIVE subsequent elections!)
Double standard, anyone?
Typical Democrat hypocrisy. But I digress.
This scandal is bad enough as it is. It needs to be handled, but not in the manner that the Democrat leadership is suggesting: that all Republican leadership must resign because of Foley’s actions. That’s ridiculous. And the Dems have had the gall to claim they’re persuing this “for the children.” House Democrat Leader Nancy Pelosi actually said,
“Speaker Hastert again failed to answer the question that every mother and father in America is asking: how could Republican Leaders choose partisan politics over protecting children?”
Good question. But direct that back at your own Democrat operatives and members of the media as well. How is it that you knew about Foley but sat on the issue until October rolled around?
“Republican Leaders admitted to knowing about Mr. Foley’s abhorrent behavior for six months to a year and failed to protect the children in their trust. Republican Leaders must be investigated by the Ethics Committee and immediately questioned under oath.”
Abso-fucking-lutely. But get ALL the facts. Dig through this and find out EVERYONE who sat on this, regardless of political affiliation. Sounds to me like several members of both sides -and the media – deserve to go down hard.
And no, I don’t mean “go down” that way. Pervs.

UPDATE: Turns out, the Congressional page in question may have been 18 at the time of the salacious IM exchange. Wild Bill at Passionate America has an entire investigation in the matter.
