Religion of Peace update: Pope exposes Muslim hypocrisy
First, it was our very existence that enraged radical Muslims. (Actually, it goes back way further than that, but let’s just start there for now.)
Next, it was those Mohammed cartoons that incited them to murder and mayhem.
Now, they’re outraged over words (here’s the Pope’s actual speech in its entirety). Again, notice it’s a difference of opinion that makes it worthy of widespread destruction and homicide by Muslims.
‘Cause that’s some dang good evangelism for Islam!
Muslim fury grows at Pope’s speechThe Pope’s speech quoted from a book recounting a conversation between 14th century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos II and an educated Persian on the truths of Christianity and Islam.
“The emperor comes to speak about the issue of jihad, holy war,” the Pope said.
“He said, I quote, ‘Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached’.”
I don’t see what all the fuss is about. Pope Benedict cited a 14th century emperor’s comments about the nature of radical Islam. It’s a bit odd that we’ve been having to deal with the violent spread of Islam for the past 6+ centuries, but there ya go.
Pope Benedict made several statements that jihad and “holy war” are unreasonable, and should be unacceptable by ANYONE who claims to follow God. Benedict added to Paleologos’ comments, saying,
“Violence is incompatible with the nature of God and the nature of the soul.”
I don’t understand why “moderate Muslims” couldn’t agree on this point about the nature of God and seize the opportunity to say “We agree with you, violence isn’t the way of Islam and we stand against those who use the sword to pervert the ideology of Mohammed.”
But instead, we hear threats of violence and calls to convert or die. And demands for an apology. (Which they have since received. But, of course, nothing is ever enough for the believers of perpetual outrage.)
Unfortunately, pointing out the obvious cancer within the Muslim community leads out outrage and indignation in the Muslim community, which means violence.

• 5 churches attacked in Palestinian areas following Pope’s comments
Watching the coverage on the news this weekend, I find it ironic that Muslims were setting fire to churches to show their anger at Catholicism, furious that the leader of their religion was “disrespected” and thus attempting to destroy a religion based on the voice of one man.
Imagine the reaction if roving bands of “Christians” were firebombing mosques all around the world and burning Mohammed in effigy?
I also find it ironic that I’ve heard people in the comments section here on other posts attempting to castigate me because I was reacting to the voices of a few within the Muslim religion and judging them on it, and yet here we have the exact same thing happening on the part of the Muslims. Yet I’m not seeing any kind of response against the pyromaniacs and protesters, reprimanding them for their intolerance.
And, of course, I find it ironic that the Pope criticized Islam for being spread through violence, and Islam’s response is… (dramatic pause) violence. Shockeroo.
It’s amazing that some people think it’s ok for radical Muslims to carry out terrorist violence but non-Muslims aren’t allowed to even speak out against it. The act of murder is permissible, but criticism of it is not. Well, I guess I shouldn’t find it that surprising, as there are many here in America who will step up and pretty much say the same thing.

UPDATE: More Islamic “peace” this weekend. Italian nun murdered by Somali Muslims.
And Somalia’s top jihadi cleric issues death threats against the Pope. ‘Cause that’s what a Religion of Peace does, right?
“Whoever offends our Prophet Mohammed should be killed on the spot by the nearest Muslim,” Malin, a prominent cleric in the Somali capital, told worshippers at a mosque in southern Mogadishu.
C’mon, Liberals. Let’s see you defend this.

UPDATE: Now Iran’s supreme leader is claiming that the Pope’s comments are part of an American/Israeli conspiracy aimed at “creating conflict between religions.”
“The issue of insulting cartoons and remarks of some politicians about Islam are different links in the conspiracy of the crusaders and the pope’s remarks are the latest links in this,” he added.
Of course, this “conflict between religions” couldn’t have anything to do with the senseless violence acted out by radical Muslims whenever their delicate sensibilities become offended, could it?

UPDATE: The Archbishop of Australia makes an observation similar to mine,
“The violent reactions in many parts of the Islamic world justified one of Pope Benedict’s main fears,” Cardinal Pell said in a statement.“They showed the link for many Islamists between religion and violence, their refusal to respond to criticism with rational arguments, but only with demonstrations, threats and actual violence.
“Our major priority must be to maintain peace and harmony within the Australian community, but no lasting achievements can be grounded in fantasies and evasions.”

UPDATE: Hey, look out! Now we’re REALLY doomed!
More “peace” from Islam in response to the Pope’s apology…
Iraq al-Qaida says pope, West are doomedCAIRO, Egypt – An al-Qaida-linked extremist group warned Pope Benedict XVI on Monday that he and the West were “doomed,” as protesters raged across the Muslim world to demand more of an apology from the pontiff for his remarks about Islam and violence.
The irony is just TOO thick! I’m gonna need to break out the thesaurus and find another word to describe these radical Muslims’ duplicity.
The Mujahedeen Shura Council, an umbrella organization of Sunni Arab extremist groups that includes al-Qaida in Iraq, issued a statement on a Web forum vowing to continue its holy war against the West. The authenticity of the statement could not be independently verified.
The group said Muslims would be victorious and addressed the pope as “the worshipper of the cross” saying “you and the West are doomed as you can see from the defeat in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya and elsewhere. … We will break up the cross, spill the liquor and impose head tax, then the only thing acceptable is a conversion (to Islam) or (killed by) the sword.”
Islam forbids drinking alcohol and requires non-Muslims to pay a head tax to safeguard their lives if conquered by Muslims. They are exempt if they convert to Islam.
Ahhh, feel the peace.
