Clinton’s newest finger-wag

Posted 25 Sep 2006 in Bill Clinton, Democrats, liberals, stupidity, terrorism

So, former President Clinton came unhinged (again) this weekend. If you watched the news or any of the Sunday morning talking head pundit shows, you probably already saw the Liar-In-Chief at his best worst in his interview with Chris Wallace. (Full transcript here.)

One of the big debates now is whether his conspiracy-rant was contrived or a spontaneous reaction to being cornered with no answer to give to the legitimate question “why didn’t you do more, connect the dots and put [Bin Laden] out of business?”

Personally, I don’t think Clinton ever does anything public or political that hasn’t been thought out and planned in advance. I think his subject-changing invective was a last ditch move, but I do think he pulled it out and used it even as he was losing his temper at being caught off guard. Funny thing is, the Left seems to think Clinton “won.” All one needs do is look at the Left’s reaction to Clinton’s tantrum. They think it was a smackdown on Chris Wallace, I’d say it was more like a meltdown. He resorted to Democrat talking points which are as tired as they are incorrect. And, of course, he couldn’t refute Matthews’ assertions about the numerous terrorist attacks which went unanswered by his administration:

1993 – 1st World Trade Center Bombing (6 killed, 1000 injured)
1996 – Khobar Towers bombing (19 US soldiers killed)
1998 – Two US embassies bombed in Africa (200 killed, including 12 Americans)
2000 – USS Cole attacked (17 US sailors killed, 39 wounded, the Cole nearly sunk)

Speaking of unanswered, didja notice that Clinton still never answered the question about why he didn’t do more to get Bin Laden?

Other than to get angry. And whine that he “tried.”

He totally left out the part where he passed on Bin Laden when the Sudanese offered him up.

I wonder what he was “trying” in 1996 instead of getting serious about terrorism?

Clinton did attempt a lame ass-covering by quoting Richard Clarke’s book, but that specious argument is easily dismantled. And there are good summaries of Clinton’s inaction here and here.

When Clinton’s cornered – and guilty – he lashes out with the finger wag.

It was lame back then. And it’s just as lame now.

UPDATE: It occurred to me today what bugged me about President Clinton making a big deal out of “… at least I tried.” It’s just typical liberalism. Someone needs to give Clinton a big hug for “trying.” It’s like he’s in the Special Olympics for Presidents, where awards are given for effort.
