Whatever happened to "hate crime"?

As expected, the media is downplaying the word “Muslim” when reporting on yesterday’s hit-and-run attacks by Ohmeed Aziz Popal. Yesterday, the story was all but buried. One person was killed and 14 more were wounded by this tardo, and the Media didn’t even cover it for at least 5 hours!! WTF?

The only reason I had heard of it was because Hugh Hewitt was covering it live on his radio show. Even when the MSM did begin covering the story, they reported that “an SUV” was running down passengers, as if the damn car was doing the assaults by itself. This sounds a lot like the coverage of the shootings at the shootings at the Seattle Jewish federation, when they tried to downplay the obvious Muslim aspect of the anti-Jew attacks. Now, they’re saying this guy is “mentally troubled.” Yeah, I’ll agree to that. But I say that could also apply to all the other jidadi nutbags, too.

This guy was a Muslim who chose to act out his hatred against Jews by running down several elderly in a heavily Jewish area. Yet we aren’t hearing any discussion of this being a “hate crime”, as we would if the situations were reversed. Nope, there’s no hate here. This poor Muslim guy is just “mentally troubled.” Or, better yet, he was simply “under pressure.”

“He grew up over here and he’s not used to the lifestyle in Afghanistan,” said one of Popal’s cousins, Hamid Nekrawesh, adding that being in his family’s homeland put “quite a lot of pressure on him.

Awww, that poor guy! He’s just stressed out and misunderstood. You gotta be shitting me. This guy goes home to Afghanistan and isn’t used to it, so he works it out by running down elderly Jewish people when he gets back?

For whatever it’s worth, I think the term “hate crime” is bunk anyway. I just find it odd that the term seems to be missing from the reporting & discussion of this case. Many crimes are motivated by hate. It’s just that the Left often tries to categorize certain types of assault as being more heinous because they’re motivated by race (as if a white man beating up a black man is worse than a black man beating up a white man). Except in cases like this, of course.

Isn’t it an odd coincidence that this “troubled” Muslim man began his attacks yesterday, like the ones in Seattle, by targeting a pedestrian in front of a Jewish Community Center.

UPDATE: Another oddity; eyewitnesses claim that Popal referred to himself as a terrorist, even though police denied these were terrorist attacks. Hrmmm, a crazed Muslim attacking, wounding, and killing Americans, specifically targeting Jews. Yep, no terrorism here!

UPDATE: It seems that despite the fact eyewitnesses heard this guy called himself a terrorist, this story may not belong with the other recent Muslim attacks. Michelle Malkin (busy bee that she is) has an extensive amount of links and facts on this deadly assault as well as several others, and draws some interesting conclusions. Definitely worth the read.
