Religion of Peace update: Muslims hate Freddy Mercury

This one made me too angry not to say anything about it. The Jawa Report’s got a good post about some Muslims who are protesting Freddy Mercury’s birthday. In a strongly worded letter to the semi-autonomous Tanzanian archipelago’s culture ministry, a group of conservative Muslims said plans to honour the lead singer of the supergroup Queen at a gala bash next month must be stopped. (more) Freddy Mercury pisses off Muslims? Even when he’s dead? I knew there was a reason I liked him! And I never realized Zanzibar was home to Islam’s intolerance. But it’s nice to know now. Funny, I’ve been a fan of Queen since the 70s and don’t remember them ever discussing their religion, let...

Antiwar moonbats attack US soldier

Posted 31 Aug 2006 in abortion, liberals, military, war

Leftist punks assault one of our troops to express their antiwar views. Can we question their patriotism now? The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is searching for five people who allegedly attacked a uniformed National Guardsmen walking along 138th Street in Parkland Tuesday afternoon. The soldier was walking to a convenience store when a sport utility vehicle pulled up alongside him and the driver asked if he was in the military and if he had been in any action. The driver then got out of the vehicle, displayed a gun and shouted insults at the victim. Four other suspects exited the vehicle and knocked the soldier down, punching and kicking him. “And during the assault the suspects called him a...

Survivor: New Orleans

I was gonna blog yesterday about the one-year “anniversary” of Hurricane Katrina, but I’ve had trouble finding time enough, so it took me until today to get this one finished. The storm didn’t touch me personally, nor did it affect many people I know. So I view it from an admittedly detached point of view. That said, it’s not hard to see the extreme levels of tragedy and loss associated with the damage left behind by the hurricane. And the incompetence of the government at all levels. President Bush was back in New Orleans yesterday, accessing the progress and apologizing for the government’s sloppy reponse. Yet Mayor Ray Nagin continues to shoot off his mouth and ignore his own...

Whatever happened to "hate crime"?

Posted 30 Aug 2006 in terrorism

As expected, the media is downplaying the word “Muslim” when reporting on yesterday’s hit-and-run attacks by Ohmeed Aziz Popal. Yesterday, the story was all but buried. One person was killed and 14 more were wounded by this tardo, and the Media didn’t even cover it for at least 5 hours!! WTF? The only reason I had heard of it was because Hugh Hewitt was covering it live on his radio show. Even when the MSM did begin covering the story, they reported that “an SUV” was running down passengers, as if the damn car was doing the assaults by itself. This sounds a lot like the coverage of the shootings at the shootings at the Seattle Jewish federation, when...

M-f’in Snakes on a M-F’in Plane!

Of course, you didn’t think I was gonna forget about Snakes On A Plane today, didja? I came to the party a little late, only having heard of it back in January. But I’ve been looking forward to it ever since. Now the reviews are coming in extremely mixed, from bad (in a good way) to bad in the regular way. Personally, I’ve received enough joy just from the buildup to justify the ticket price. Snakes On A Blog has been tracking all the fun fan-made stuff that has been careening around the internet for the past year. Fun stuff like…Snakes On A CakeSnakes On A TrainSnakes On An ElevatorSnakes On A Home Birth Oh, there’s way too much...

Chewing through this week’s news

Posted 18 Aug 2006 in jihadists, stupidity, terrorism

It’s only 9:45, but my Friday is already shaping up to be a triple-decker shit sandwich. So before I have to take a big ‘ol bite, let’s look at some of the recent news. There sure is a helluva lot of stuff going on right now in regards to our airports. I think the terrorists are still probing us for weaknesses and trying to commit jihadi homicide on a monumental scale. These are not coincidences: • We’ve got three “young Muslim males” from here in Texas (Maruan Muhareb, Adham Othman, and Louai Othman) arrested for buying thousands of cellphones in Michigan. Either they’re too stupid to realize that if they were geniunely reselling products they should have bought them...

Darth Vader’s lesser-known brother works in a grocery store? Greatness.

Talk about passive-aggressive!

Posted 17 Aug 2006 in liberals, media bias

If you’ve read here for any length of time, you know I like to point out blatant instances of liberal bias in the mainstream media (like here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here). Well, rather than simply call out each instance as it occurs (since they’re summarily dismissed by those of liberal persuasion anyway), neo-neocon has a good post revealing how the use of “passive voice” in the news can be used to skew the meanings of headlines and stories, including a month-long study of Reuters’ recent coverage in the Middle East.

Sitting in a Cuban prison

Good one today from Michelle Malkin about the injustice of imprisoned journalists. And no, Dan Rather didn’t get thrown in the pokey for faking the news. Take a moment and click over, this one is a bit more important than you may think.

Actor Bruno Kirby dies at 57 of leukemia complications

Don’t know why, ’cause I never really knew the guy, but hearing this story today made me kinda sad. Such a young guy to go so soon. Very talented and funny in flicks like City Slickers, Good Morning Vietnam, and When Harry Met Sally. Happy trails, Bruno.
