Yates declared "not guilty" of murder

The verdict today was “not guilty by reason of insanity.”

What the jury forgot to include was that the insanity part refers to themselves!

What were these idiots thinking? Andrea Yates drowned her 5 children in a bathtub, one at a time. If they don’t think she did it, then who do they think did it? If they know she did it, then… here it comes… she’s GUILTY.

And if she’s guilty of murdering her 5 children, then she deserves to spend the rest of her days rotting in a prison cell. Or to have her life exterminated by the state.

That’s the whole purpose of putting that loon on trial. Getting to the truth, and then deciding punishment if she’s guilty.

It shouldn’t be that hard.

Amazingly, Russell Yates (her now-ex-husband) was running his mouth to the press today, practically giddy that the woman who killed his children will go to a mental institution. And could possibly be released in a few years.

“We’re happy,” Russell Yates told reporters outside the courthouse. “To me, this is really about Andrea’s quality of life for the balance of her life. Is she going to spend her time in a prison cell with barely adequate medical treatment and no interaction with other people and family members or is she going to spend time in a hospital and get good medical treatment and have hope of a possibly somewhat normal life later?”

Yeah, folks, that’s justice.

This woman already had a trial. Was already found guilty. And through some travesty in our legal system, was allowed a re-trial. Not because of a problem with the facts. But because of a technicality in the proceedings.

That’s insanity.

Yes, Yates was psychotic when she murdered her children, holding each one of them under the water until they stopped breathing. That’s insanity. Anyone who kills their children is crazy. BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN THEY DIDN’T DO IT. Nor that they shouldn’t be held accountable for their actions.

Yeah, there was insanity involved. But it’s on the part of Russell Yates, defense attorney Wendell Odom, and every member of the jury who returned a “not guilty” verdict.
