The DaVinci Goad
Went to see The DaVinci Code with traci tonight. Yawn. To quote American Idol’s Randy Jackson, “It was just aiiiiight.”
It was an interesting story, with plenty of plot twists that incorporated just enough history to have the scent of plausibility. But overall, I fail to understand the huge furor over it. My guess is, the same people who got upset over “The Last Temptation of Christ” also feel threatened by this movie and book.
Here’s a clue: it’s FICTION! Why should that have any impact on someone’s faith? If it’s wrong, then don’t sweat it.
Oh well, at least they’re not burning businesses and killing people due to their “outrage.”

An interesting sidenote; there was a movie trailer which aired before DaVinci for the new movie featuring Nicholas Cage. No, I’m not referring to Ghost Rider (which looks cool, btw). Nope, I’m talking about Oliver Stone’s new movie, simply titled World Trade Center You can view the trailer here. Stone describes it as:
“It’s the true story of two New York Port Authority policemen trapped in the rubble, their wives and children, and their incredible, improbable rescue.”
It seems Stone will be eschewing his recent penchant for conspiracy theories in favor of giving us a touching and gripping account of the horrific events that occured on September 11 and the heroes who struggled to rescue their fellow Americans on that day. From what I can tell, the movie looks like it’ll be damn good. The trailer hadn’t even run for a full 60 seconds and I was already tearing up. I don’t know if seeing this film will help heal the wounds that are still so raw, but I’ll definitely be there on opening day for this one.
