Reality smackdown by Hector Vex

I’ve got many blogs that I enjoy reading (as indicated by my blogroll) but one of the few that I read every week is Hector Vex’s Infotainment Blog. And his post from this past Friday is a perfect example of why I enjoy his writing so much. In this instance, he takes Michael Berg to task for his recent comments on behalf of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi:

I’m sure all of you know that that al-Zarqawi is dead. A couple of 500 pound bombs blasted his teeth back into Jordan. Anyways, I’m not a reliable news source so that’s really all I’m going to say about it. However, I’d like to mention Michael Berg. He’s the father of Nicolas Berg, an american contractor that was beheaded by al-Zarqawi and his buddies. Michael Berg is a happy hippy. On CNN this morning (where else) he claimed that he cried for al-Zarqwai, where al-Zarqwai’s own family prayed that he rot in hell for his crimes. Berg cried for the killer of his son. See, this is fuel for the terrorists. This is us losing. This kind of pussy attitude towards someone getting exactly what they deserved is what keeps those fuckers happy and motivated. How do you think they would celebrate if one of our leaders was killed? They’d dance in the fucking streets, shooting their AK-47′s in the air. They’d celebrate the victory. Instead, our fucking pussy whipped public is mourning al-Zarqwai. Yeah, I know it’s just one guy, but you know every rainbow sandal wearing liberal is thinking the same thing. Cindy Sheehan for example is probably right now writing a new book explaining how she masturbates to al-Zarqwai’s speeches. And this is why the terrorists won’t stop until they are all dead. This is what keeps them going. They watch CNN, they laugh. They laugh at America, they laugh at our people and they laugh at our military because they are an extension of America. I’m not questioning patriotism here, I’m questioning what side you are on. You claim “freedom of speech” whenever your comments are questioned as being unpatriotic perhaps. Well, you are using freedom of speech. And you should be glad for it. I am. But you should think about the effects of what exactly you are saying. Just because you can say it, doesn’t always mean you should. Yeah, there are some things about this war that need to be said out loud. Like the lack of intelligence going in, and so on. But those are facts. It’s always fine to speak out against facts. But when you are standing around saying to your liberal buddy, “Y’know, the young people in our army didn’t know what they were getting in to.” You need to shut the fuck up. You have no fucking clue. Every solider knows what his duty is to this nation. To stand in line for your fucking latte and question that? Every solider knows that why they signed that paper in front of the recruiter, there was a good chance they would die for their nation. So when dickheads like Berg get on television and cry for the opposition, cry for the man that killed his son, it’s only making the terrorists that much stronger. They can look at us and don’t see strength anymore, they only see weakness because that is what our public is reflecting. Well, let it start here – al-Zarqwai can rot, and the rest of his little fag parade can, and will, join him in hell soon.

Now back to Berg. Let’s have a conversation with Berg, using some of his quotes from his recent TV appearances:

“Well, you know, I’m not saying Saddam Hussein was a good man, but he’s no worse than George Bush. Saddam Hussein didn’t pull the trigger, didn’t commit the rapes. Neither did George Bush. But both men are responsible for them under their reigns of terror.”

I’m sorry. Did you just compare our president to a genocidal dictator? How is that possible? Let’s see, Saddam killed hundreds of thousands of his own people – women & children included – then invaded a neighboring country just for the hell of it. Bush punished him for it. How’s that the same? And Saddam quite often did pull the trigger. He’s got plenty of blood on his hands.

“Under Saddam Hussein, no al Qaeda. Under George Bush, al Qaeda.”

You’re right. al Qaeda is a brand new thing. They weren’t around back in the 1970′s hijacking planes and bombing an embassy here and there. They didn’t appear until 2001, a year into Bush’s campaign. Suddenly, Bush came into power and al Qaeda appeared to wreak havoc, like a nemesis or something. In this fantasy world you live in, do the elves ride unicorns? As for Iraq, there were plenty of al Qaeda in Iraq. Saddam was a huge supporter of theirs and routinely aided them. Not to mention, it’s not like al Qaeda is the fucking 4H club, they aren’t exactly making their presense known to those outside the intelligence community.

“I don’t buy that. Iraq did not have al Qaeda in it. Al Qaeda supposedly killed my son.”

In a way, you are kind of right. al Qaeda was there, just not active like they are now. And your son knew the risks going over there. He knew that he had a hippy fuck for a father and wanted to do what was right to help his country. Now that our military is there, wouldn’t you rather have them fighting al Qaeda there then al Qaeda coming here? Can you answer that in a yes or no? I doubt it. Liberals never can.

“Under Saddam Hussein, relative stability. Under George Bush, instability.”

I don’t really understand what the hell you mean by that? Genocide is stability? Hoarding weapons of mass destruction (later moved to Syria) is stability? I guess it is, if we’re not doing something. Let’s look at it this way. Say a group of armed thieves are robbing a closed jewelry store. For the moment, there is calm. They are stealing millions of dollars worth of jewels (jewel theft = genocide.) All is relatively stable. Suddenly, one of them trips the alarm. They have been realized! The cops show up (US military) there is a shootout, some of the theives have found hiding places and are shooting the police. Now all is no longer stable. But the right thing is being done. Sure, a couple of cops might take a bullet, one might die. But the criminals will pay for their crimes. The jewelry does not belong to the cops or the city, but they are doing their duty to stop the criminals. It’s all relative. I hope that analogy wasn’t too obtuse.

“Under Saddam Hussein, about 30,000 deaths a year. Under George Bush, about 60,000 deaths a year. I don’t get it. Why is it better to have George Bush the king of Iraq rather than Saddam Hussein?”

I’m sorry, I really can’t answer that based on the fact that it seems to be a strange “fact” culled from some sort of alternate liberal reality. It’s really hard to answer a hypothetical question based on a reality that both of us don’t live in. I live in the real world. Step out from under the rainbow Mr. Berg, the real world is out here.

Hector Vex is the shit. Go check him out and show him some love.
