Interesting to find that I’m not the only one who generally refers to carbonated beverages as “Coke.”
Growing up in the south, while having parents that come from New Jersey, I’m frequently told by southerners that I have a bit of a northern accent. And told by northerners that I have a bit of a southern accent. Near as I can figure, that means I have NO accent, which is just enough to set off people from both regions.
I’m surprised my Yankee English is as high as it is, despite the fact that I’ve lived my entire life in the south. Confounded Yankee parents! (h/t: Matt Margolis)
