Oklahoma legalizes… tattoos

It’s official, Oklahoma doesn’t suck nearly as much as it used to:

It is now legal to get inked in Oklahoma. It became the last state to make tattoos legal when Governor Brad Henry signed legislation Wednesday to license and regulate tattoo artists and parlors.

The measure ends a ban on tattooing that had been in effect in Oklahoma since 1963. The new law takes effect November 1st. It allows anyone over 18 to be tattooed legally.

The legislation calls for sanitation and health guidelines for tattoo artists and parlors — and periodic inspections by the Oklahoma Health Department.

Previous attempts to lift the ban over the past decade were fought on health as well as moral grounds.

Moral grounds? What do they mean, that tattoos are immoral? Where’d they get a crazy idea like that? Oh wait, I almost forgot. It IS in the Bible. Gee, I wonder if Okies stone their children, too?
