Still spying?

(No, I’m not talking about the Bush/NSA program, nor about my regular readers. This is in reference to a specific member of my family who recently took it upon themselves to root out my blog)

Dear family member,

Hopefully you’ve already read the “disclaimer” in the link on my navbar over there to the right. But if not, I’d like to recap it here and update it for this particular situation.

Now that you’ve Googled your way onto my blog, I’d appreciate it if you’d move along. This blog is for my personal use. It’s my outlet. Sometimes it’s my journal. Besides, you never know what is true or what may be embellished on here for entertainment purposes. And while I don’t mind strangers and even certain friends reading it, I’d appreciate it if my family would respect my desire for a level of privacy and stay off this site. Had I wanted to communicate vital details of my life to my family, I’d have composed a newsletter and sent it to you.

I’m curious why you’d take the time and trouble to search out my blog, since you claimed you didn’t want any further contact with me because you disagree with my choices and have chosen to ignore me. And that’s fine. Whatever helps you sleep at night. For the past several years, I’ve extended the invitation to resume the relationship whenever you’re willing to talk again. And that invitation still stands. But if our relationship has ended as far as you’re concerned, there is no reason for you to get updates on me here.

If you’re truly interested in my private life or knowing what I’m up to, have the courage – and the courtesy – to contact me directly rather than sniffing about my blog, looking for info.

Regular and new readers: Sorry you had to see that. Thanks for coming here and feel free to look around my other posts.
